Good for YOU! - Vegetarian for Health

Eating meat can not only make you feel awful and look terrible, it actually puts you at higher risk of dying from the most fatal illnesses faced by Aussies today. So, leaving the animals off your plate is not only good for them, it’s good for YOU too!

Happy Faces

Didn’t your mum tell you to eat your veggies? Well, she was onto something... If you want to look your best, feel your best, and live a long healthy life, then do yourself a favour and give meat the flick. Why?

Just like anything dead, meat rots. Does rotting animal flesh really sound that appetising? And then there’s the adrenaline that was coursing through that animal’s body as it was killed. When you eat meat, you’re eating the fear and pain that animal felt as he or she died.

Fish and other sea animals are often contaminated with mercury, which can cause brain damage. What’s more, DDT, PCB and dioxin are also often found in fish flesh. These toxic chemicals have been linked to cancer, nervous system disorders and foetal damage.

Australia is one of the fattest nations in the world. More than half Australian adults are overweight or obese! Vegetarians have an average body weight up to 20% lower than meat eaters, and less than 6% of vegetarians are obese.

Giving meat the flick won’t just do wonders for your waistline. People often report fewer pimple problems and glowing skin after going veg.

Meat, eggs and dairy are jam packed full of saturated fats and artery clogging cholesterol. Restricted blood flow isn’t just a worry for your heart ... it can also cause problems in the sack. A low fat vegan diet helps prevent impotence, or “erectile dysfunction”, and can even help cure it.

Studies have found vegetarians and vegans have a longer life expectancy than meat eaters. Take the Chinese woman Du Pinhua for example. A lifelong vegetarian, she lived to the age of 120!

Slim down; have more energy; feel lighter; have better skin ... and best of all you know that you’re helping the environment and saving 100 animals’ lives every year. Now that’s gotta give you peace of mind!

And...

This is the bottom line... Animal products have been linked to all the major killers in the western world. By switching to a healthy vegan diet you can reduce your risk of heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and cancer.

So get that pork off your fork and start living the good life! And since the proof is in the vegan pudding ... check these tofu powered champions out for size!

Words of Widsom Dr. Neal Barnard

If beef is your idea of ‘real food for real people’, you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.

The Big Killers

Many of the country's top killers have been linked to an unhealthy meat-centric diet. Switching to a veg diet can significantly help to prevent these serious conditions. Here’s a recent snapshot:

Illness Deaths per Year
Cancers 38,000
Heart Disease 36,000
Strokes 12,000
Diabetes 3,500
