Good for YOU! - Vegetarian for Health

Did you know that eating meat puts you at higher risk of some of the most fatal illnesses faced by Aussies today? A veggie-based diet can mean that you will live longer, feel better and look like a total babe. So, leaving the animals off your plate is not only good for them, it's good for YOU too!

Happy Faces

"Eat your veggies!" That's what mums say. And that's because mums are smart! If you want to look your best, feel your best, and live a long, healthy life, then do yourself a favour and give meat the flick. Why?

If you eat meat, then you probably eat meat glue. This stuff is so nasty that you have to wear a face mask when you go near it. And they're putting it in 'food'?! Just watch:

Fish and other sea animals can be contaminated with mercury. Mercury causes brain damage. What’s more, DDT, PCB and dioxins can also be found in some fish flesh. These toxic chemicals have been linked to cancer, nervous system disorders and foetal damage.

Vegetarians have an average body weight up to 20% lower than meat eaters, and less than 6% of vegetarians are obese. What's more, people often report fewer pimple problems and glowing skin after going veg. In other words, vegetarians be babin'.

Experts are warning that new 'superbugs' could see more and more people dying from diseases that should be easily treated. Why? Because we're using too many antibiotics, and creating breeding grounds for drug-resistant bacteria. What's that got to do with eating animals? Almost half of all antibiotics worldwide are being fed to farm animals -- often when they're not even sick!

Meat, eggs and dairy are jam packed full of saturated fats and artery clogging cholesterol. Restricted blood flow isn't just a worry for your heart ... it can also cause problems in the sack. A low fat vegan diet can help reduce your risk of impotence, or "erectile dysfunction".

Ok, that's an exaggeration but you could certainly live for a very long time. Lifelong vegetarian, Du Pinhua, lived to be 120! Studies have found vegetarians and vegans may have a longer life expectancy than meat eaters.

Slim down; have more energy; feel lighter; have better skin ... and best of all you know that you're helping the environment and saving 100 animals' lives every year. Now that's gotta give you peace of mind!

And...

This is the bottom line... Animal products have been linked to all the major killers in the western world. By switching to a healthy vegan diet you can reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer.

So get that pork off your fork and start living the veg life! And since the proof is in the vegan pudding ... check these tofu powered champions out for size!

Words of Widsom Dr. Neal Barnard

If beef is your idea of ‘real food for real people’, you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.

The Big Killers

Many of Australia's top killers have been linked to an unhealthy meat-centric diet. Switching to a veg diet can significantly help to prevent these serious conditions. Here’s a recent snapshot:

Illness Deaths per Year

Cardiovascular Disease (heart disease & stroke) 45,600
Cancers 43,700
Diabetes 4,200
