Overcoming Meat Cravings

I hate to say this, but 'taking one animal out at a time' doesn't seem to work. I have three or four friends, one of them my cousin, who tried this method and gave up. Because 'mum made roast pork and I wanted it, and it won't make MUCH diference if i eat it.' Having a loop hole means that its easy to break.

I used to crave chicken, but the soloution was marinated tofu, vegetarian cheese (I'm not vegan, but vegetarian cheese has rennet derived from plant sources, instead of poor calve's stomachs.), lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper, cucumber, and every other vegetable in the house. Put in a big sandwich (with no butter) and *om nom nom* Also made it with vegan cheese (tofutti). Tasted odd but nice.
*bam* and the cravings gone! lol.

It can be.
And if you think about it for some people there isnt 'a time where they get over it'.
Some people just keep craving meat and cant overcome it. Even when they look at all the wonderful optıons they have they will still crave meat because no vegan food can stop a REAL MEAT craving.

Really, I think it's just a mental addiction in many cases. There's no need to eat "fake meat" but if that's what you're craving then why not go for it. There are so many fake meats that even meat-eaters find so realistic it's considered "creepy". I'm guessing, for example, you've never tried Lord of the Fries?

and DON'T forget the hamburgers. so many people think they are just normal cheese burgers.. when actually they are 100% vegan.. yummmmmmm
I got a few friends of mine to try their vegan nuggets. They were a bit reluctant at first not because thye were vegan (they're forever trying to take a bite at my vegan food) but because of the look of the 'nuggets' After tasting them they said, and i quote 'They taste better than 'normal' nuggets.'   happy
Case in point. Go try Lord of the Fries!!! wink

Depends on the quality, etc. I can get a reasonable quality block from the supermarket for $1.65 so it's pretty cheap.

sometimes i used to (shame) buy cheeseburgers without the meat. probably not entirely vegetarian and bad to support maccas but it stopped any weird craving.

and PLEASE if you eat tofu, do something good with it like marinate it! otherwise you may be disappointed!
- soy sauce, garlic, ginger and honey or a bit of sugar is pretty good!!

So true. Plain tofu is an "acquired" taste!
