The Queensland Government plans to introduce a Container Deposit in 2018. They are asking input from people all around Australia on how they should do this. A Discussion Paper (1) is currently out for public comment, with a submission deadline of 20th March 2017.

There are over 40 such successful systems around the world producing huge benefits so it’s clearly a good move. However, success is in the details - and we need to ensure the government gets every detail right, so it has the greatest impact in cleaning up the environment.

That’s where you come in. We want you to have your say on what kind of system we end up with.  We’ve investigated the best systems and key features such as convenience, efficiency and cost - and created a template which provides answers to the key questions asked in the discussion paper.

Will you have your say today? It doesn’t matter if you live in Queensland or not -  it will have a huge impact on stemming the tide of plastic choking our oceans.

The more public comments they receive, the sooner the government will move forward on this, and the more they will act on other disposable plastics. The sooner Qld acts, the sooner your state will follow.

Can you make the campaign stronger by ensuring your voice is heard? Please make a submission today.

Thank you for your commitment to making our world a better, cleaner place,

Toby Hutcheon - Queensland Campaigner
