Maybe get a social science or psychology student to try it out? It'd be interesting that's for sure.
i like your thinking.. i am majoring in psych and sociology at the moment so if i get the chance to do a 4th year it would be a really interesting idea to explore
Nobody cares if they're gay, it'd just be interesting to see if a higher/lower percentage of the vegetarian/vegan population are gay. This would perhaps indicate a higher level of compassion or openness or a propensity to trying new things. It'd just be interesting. Could probably do the same study regarding age, socio-economic status, country, marital status, religion... They are all different variables which may/may not have an affect on a person becoming veg*n.
Or... Are you referring to the Sydney Gays for Animal Rights float? (I hope that that was the right name). In that case, it matters very much if they're gay as I believe part of the reason they weren't allowed was because they weren't gay enough? Whereas ANZ and IKEA somehow were...
Somehow I doubt there is really any connection between sexuality and being vegan tho
Apart from the obvious fact that vegans are sexy!
Well that's a given.
It is almost certain that the cross section of the vegan community would mirror the cross section of society at large, but it would be nice to have this confirmed.
Differences that I would expect, would be that Veg*ns are more health conscious and more aware of environmental issues than the general population. I am now intrigued and wonder what, if any, deviations from the standard a Veg*n census would show. I would have thought such research would have been done at least on a small scale, but I wouldn't know where to find suh information
