I am still watching it online. I am usually a really strong person, I don't usually cry, get frightened and I just can't look at this anymore but I will listen. I have been crying since the beginning, the most vivid things are the dog being put in a garbage truck, the poor animal that was skinned and still alive but also the poor puppy who had a needle shoved down its throat. I am currently vegetarian and I knew I was going to become a vegan asap. I will probably show this to as many people as I can, but I am not sure if any of this will get through.

I am sorry babies, I wish I could have saved you all but I will do my best to stop this!!

I watched it last night. I am now a vegetarian. I am still eating free range eggs and shellfish. But its a start. Iv sent a link around my work and facebook. I am going to try and make everyone watch it.

Its the most horrific thing I have ever seen. I wish I could win lotto and devote my life to stopping it!! I cried so hard the whole time and now I have puffy eyes at work. I had big cuddles with my cats while I watched sad soooo sad. Everytime I think about it I almost break down in tears sad humans are so heartless and arrogant!

gonna watch it tomorrow when I have the house to myself. I have a pretty strong stomach but am disgusted by what was shown in the trailer. The one that got to me the most was the poor animal (raccoon? couldn't tell) was skinned alive, and then was still alive with no skin. Twisted people in the world.

cry I have only seen the ad for it on youtube and believe me. That was enough. Im already vegan and cruelty free but I wanted to see what the fus was about.. wish I didnt. I cried so much I nearly threw up and my dog was really distressed by my crying that he sat on me for ages after.
How can we even do this to the world. paw

half way through. So far I have almost cried, but am pretty strong when it comes to this stuff. But ugh this is horrible and I am only half way through. Also very glad I didn't give in to that fish craving I randomly had yesterday now. Will be no longer eating dairy, or any store bought eggs, or foods with them in it. I won't be 100% vegan as I will still eat eggs from my pet chooks, who in return get good quality organic food, food scraps, cooked rice every few days and fresh veggies etc. just about every day, along with over half the yard to wander around in and scratch up, plus plenty of cuddles and scratches. Prehaps less people would eat meat and animal products if they treated the meat animals like pets. My chickens were born to be in a kfc box, most likely from a factory farm, yet they are just as affectionate and funny and full of personality as any other pet I have owned.

Want to post this to my fb but not sure what to say to get people to watch the whole thing. A lot of my fb 'friends' (aka: morons I don't like but can't be screwed deleting) are the type who would probably do this to animals. But I suppose people can surprise you.

I apologise in advance for this lengthy post, but I'm a tad bit long-winded... :p

My sister had been at me for ages to watch Earthlings, and though I knew what I was in for to a certain degree, I wasn't at all prepared for the horrific reality of what unfolded in front of me. I was (and still am) appalled, upset, disgusted, and so incredibly ashamed of what my fellow humans are capable of.

My decision to become a fully-fledged Vegan came a little before my viewing Earthlings, but it was the documentary that truly set my resolve into a stone that even Arthur couldn't pull a sword from.

That being said, we cannot force others watch it, though we all know they should be informed of what goes on behind the scenes, therefore I urge you all to gently advocate on behalf of these beautiful yet defenceless creatures, rather than preach as such.

I admit I've been going flat-sticks about it on my Facebook page, but I've since calmed it down, and though one of my friends viewed Earthlings at my request and vowed to go Vegan thereafter (a win in itself), I believe slow and steady coercion is the key, not blatant 'in your face' tactics. Think about it - if you can sway one person, then that person will no doubt use their new found knowledge to sway another - and so the chain reaction begins.

That's not to say you shouldn't keep at it, just as I will most definitely continue to share links and express my views; but we still need to exercise a certain amount of tolerance, even if we believe (and I believe) that we here, are 'right'.

While I'm at it, I figure I may as well share a little info with those iffy about committing to a solely vegan way of life. It may seem daunting, but in reality, there are so many products on the market that will satisfy you. It's all about trial an error. If you try a vege burger and you don't like it, go for the next brand. The same goes for cheese substitutes, other meat substitutes, milk etc.

In fact, I just ate this for lunch... http://www.australianeatwell.com.au/show_product.php?pid=vegtofu2 ... and it was absolutely delicious. I slapped a good spoonful on a piece of grain bread, then I had to have another, then I had to stop myself from going for MORE bread, opting instead to shovel the rest down with a spoon. The package would easily feed two people (for around $7), if not more whereby a side of rice or the like was added. FYI - I do not work for these people, I just have to praise it up because it was so yummy! ecstatic

Here are a few links to sites that may help get you started. You'll be surprised just how many cruelty-free products are on offer. Everything from food, to hair dye, household cleaning products, and even vegan pet food! Some of these items you'll find in your local supermarket or health food shop, but alas, a lot are not as freely available.

Finally, it takes a brave soul to watch what those poor animals go through, but it takes an even braver soul to make the changes that will inevitably change the industry, and diminish the gross negligence, fear, torture and waste of life for which it stands.

*Hugs all around*

Who created the documentary? And how do I know it's not from worst-case, isolated scenarios? Form what I have read, some of the things in this movie aren't even allowed in Australian slaughterhouses. Recently one got shut down in Gippsland for breaching animal welfare laws. Am I supposed to believe it is as widespread as it claims to be, or believe this to be nothing but an animal rights, PETA-esque propaganda film showing the most violent, isolated incidents to appeal to emotion?

It's made by nation earth, it's several years worth of undercover footage and according to the director the majority of it reflects standard practices in the USA. The only thing in the film that is a one off is the dog being thrown in the garbage truck which was put in to show how non-human life is disregarded so easily in some parts of the world and because it was so powerful. You have to remember that this film is marjorly based on america, not australia and there is plenty of evidence out there besides this film to show that the american meat industry is like this. And, as we have seen with the closure of the australian abbatoir the same things do happen here, it's the nature of the industry to be violent and I have a family member that worked in a WA abbatoir and his descriptions very much reminded me of this film.
