Yes, unfortunately even 'free range' is absolutely cruel, but good on you for wanting to make the switch.

I wouldn't frown down on someone who still ate their own chickens eggs, or someone who got them off a friend who had some hens, but it's not vegan.

As said above, it's so easy to bake without eggs. Next time you're cooking something like pancakes or a cake, substitute 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil for every egg you would have used in the recipe. It's that simple! One of my omni mates had no eggs and wanted to do some baking, I told her this, and now she prefers it to using eggs in her baking.

Good luck!
and good idea, will have to try that!! can you do that with everything? happy
as long as it's not a recipe that requires whisking egg whites to prepare things like meringue, then it should work. I use it for cakes, muffins and pancakes happy

Ha! True tongue I tried making meringue by whipping Orgran 'No Egg' once. Epic fail. Stick to the meringue-making mix from the cruelty free shop. That's my tip wink  peace

I haven't tried the veggie oil trick. I use "No Egg" for baking, which always works well, especially for cupcakes! Mmmmm.... cupcakes.....

I've actually never used 'no egg'  in baking, I always find if I want my cupcakes to be light and fluffy I add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar(with the oil), it makes them so much lighter!

And on the whisking note... apparently I watched a youtube video where a lad whipped up pure coconut milk/cream and made vegan whipped cream. Sounds really interesting, I want to try it. I wonder how easy it is..

Thanks everyone! You've all given me something to think about, and some delicious sounding recipies to try!

Going to definitely try and kick the egg habit. Baby steps, first in my own cooking, then i'll tackle the store bought things with egg in them happy

You could always eat free range eggs, as some companies have strict rules that the animals are free range. Same with some other animal products.
