I heard about Quorn and was psyched until I found out it wasnt vegan friendly. So I joined the FB page 'make quorn vegan', signed an online petition and sent an email to them to which they replied 'its been forwarded' or something. if enough people bother them itll happen!!

So, I know this isn't vegan. But have any of our veggie friends tried this now that it is out?

I bought a few items because I'm desperate to find a wider variety of veg food to feed the bf. I bought the Cheese and Spinach Schnitzels and the Lasagne. The lasagne was alright, bit small but probably the same size and price as a lean cuisine version. tongue

The chicken though.. was awesome. My boyfriend said it had the same bite and texture as real chicken and it looked like real chicken too!

So just from those two items it looks hopeful for having a good meat replacement!

I will join the team of those asking for vegan options though. happy

My mum checked coles and couldn't find it, and then she checked a health food store and they said they only stocked australian products. My mum is really excited about Quorn! Especially since my mum says meat is becoming too expensive. I think i might be able to get my mum to be vegetarian or at least flexi because of quorn lol!

I know, I don't buy any eggs myself. But when it comes to companies taking steps towards more humane choices.. if a company must have eggs, using free range is a better message. I know it isn't great for the chickens still, but I figure anything that helps eliminate cage eggs is a step in the right direction. Makes it easier to pin point the problem

My reply was really a stab at maccas, how they refuse to even make that change. sad
Free range isn't a 'good' choice for a company, its a marketing ploy. The free range classification is completely shit.

On the bright side, mass-marketed veg options are excellent, and I'm glad.

If it "isn't great for the chickens", how can it be a step in the right direction? Please, let's start decrying ALL forms of animal exploitation.
It is a step in the right direction. If only more companies boycotted caged eggs.
How is it a step in the right direction? It's an excuse for people to keep consuming animal products and make them feel better about it.
Do you honestly believe everyone is going to give up all animal products? I don't see a problem with people eating eggs as long as the chickens are looked after well. Not saying free range is, but it is a STEP in the right direction. Eggs are a waste product.

Ooh, I saw this stuff in Coles last week! Too bad it's not vegan, but it's great that so many more vegetarian products are coming out.

Do you guys know if any of their other products (which arn't sold in Aus) are vegan? Because in the UK they have like over 100 quorn products and i bet some might be vegan and one day they will sell them here to.
