Killing animals for their skins is too cruel, even getting their skins when they are dead. There is no need for it and i think more people need to stop it, this is mostly why animals are going extinct.

There is no reason... No good reason at least. In days gone by it may have been 'fashionable', and some people may have worn fur for warmth. But nowadays these are poor excuses if you ask me.

At the moment I am housesitting for my aunt in Hazelbrook while she is away in Asia. On the way up there there is a stall on the side of the main road which sells skins, rugs, everything... They're all hung up, it's difficult to avoid looking at it... just a stall of death =(
So many times I have thought about doing something about it, but I don't know what... legally they're doing nothing wrong... so I don't know what to do. If I find out their company name I will post it here... I'm happy to one day do a protest, but I don't know much about the company, they might get a lot of sales in the mountains.... I think the area is pretty conservative too, so I wouldn't imagine many people from the area protesting =(
I highly doubt that they sell faux fur, but that is another thing I need to find out.

I think it is so disgusting that it was- and to an extent still is- fashionable to drape a dead animal around you. I think Ace Ventura had it right when in response to seeing a woman with a fox around her neck, he picked up an old man and draped HIM around his neck.

I'll never understand why, in a world on synthetic fibres, people feel the need to wear a dead creature on their bodies.

Another question: Why do Aussie omnis think it's normal to eat a cow, pig, sheep, duck, chicken, fish, etc, and yet are sickened to hear about countries that cook dogs and guinea pigs?

Yeah i'm asking myself the same question. And thats why i'm not down with the whole uproar at the moment about horse meat being sold in Perth. If you can eat a cow or pig then why not a horse, or any other animal for that matter. It's all about the sentimental attachment we've developed towards certain animals. I don't make these distinctions, an animal is an animal to me, hence my veganism. The same with many others here I would assume.

I think the uproar is mainly due to the fact that horses are or seen as pets... that's how I see it.

Yeah, but it works both ways. I'll fight just as hard against horse meat as I will against beef!

Fur is dead! well i see hundreds of dead animals every year, i go to the biggest medieval festival in the southern hemisphere its called the Abby Medieval festival, people walk around with dead animals on the heads and hanging off them everywhere. IT IS DISGUSTING! you can buy pretty much everything from dead arctic foxes to chinchilla feet. Maybe AA should get some volunteers to have a stall or handing out leaflets  if not i will have heaps of pics to prove what i see, its coming up soon so AA better get a wriggle on.  oooo a protest would be fun!
