Killing animals for their skins is too cruel, even getting their skins when they are dead. There is no need for it and i think more people need to stop it, this is mostly why animals are going extinct.
This is only one reason why particular species are going extinct. In many cases the animals' skin has come to the capturer" as a bonus. It is the same with products like gelatin, blood and bones, even sausages. The Processor has used the part of the animal they require and the other pieces are separated to be used for other such products.
People will choose fur over fake for such simple reasons:
It is what they know.
It is what they were told to do and what they've grown to think they *should do.
Ignorance and arrogance- a human mind's oldest friends.
Fur is dead! well i see hundreds of dead animals every year, i go to the biggest medieval festival in the southern hemisphere its called the Abby Medieval festival, people walk around with dead animals on the heads and hanging off them everywhere. IT IS DISGUSTING! you can buy pretty much everything from dead arctic foxes to chinchilla feet. Maybe AA should get some volunteers to have a stall or handing out leaflets if not i will have heaps of pics to prove what i see, its coming up soon so AA better get a wriggle on. oooo a protest would be fun!
Not just fur though, most people seem to think its ok walking around in leather, bits of dead animal hanging off their feet, bodies or shoulders.
At the moment I am housesitting for my aunt in Hazelbrook while she is away in Asia. On the way up there there is a stall on the side of the main road which sells skins, rugs, everything... They're all hung up, it's difficult to avoid looking at it... just a stall of death =(
So many times I have thought about doing something about it, but I don't know what... legally they're doing nothing wrong... so I don't know what to do. If I find out their company name I will post it here... I'm happy to one day do a protest, but I don't know much about the company, they might get a lot of sales in the mountains.... I think the area is pretty conservative too, so I wouldn't imagine many people from the area protesting =(
I highly doubt that they sell faux fur, but that is another thing I need to find out.
My neighbour has a kangaroo skin mat Even when i wasn't veg*n it made me soo sad.
And today at school they were cooking kangaroo sausages for an aboriginal day thing... Made me wanna throwup. Just thought to add that in for the sake of it..
in the ocean grove park on the 3 of jan there is a stall that sells real fur at the tranquility fair.
i have tryed talking to them but it didn't work, they laughed in my face
but i'm fine, i am armed with some PeTA leaflets now, !go PeTA go!
