Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is almost pre-plant.
It's existed for millions of years and actually lacks a standard plant cell wall and as such is really easy to absorb.
It's over 70% protein and contains all the essential amino acids.
It contains in one teaspoon well and truly over 100% of your vitamin A (in beta carotene form) and vitamin K. A good dose of all your vitamin B's (arguably vitamin B12); over 25% of your iron needs and 15% of your calcium needs. And about 10% of your iodine, magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, chromium and potassium.
It is also high in some other co-factors and antioxidants.
ALL IN ONE TEASPOON!!!!

It's an amazingly nutritious food; you could honestly survive just on it for quite an extended period of time if you ate enough.
It's a little expensive but well worth it.

Can you put it in any meal or drink? Or do you have to eat it on its own?

Spirulina? Lol! I used to take that (about 5-7 years ago). It is pretty expensive.
I suppose you could mix it with a food or drink if you crushed the tablet. I just swallowed it with water... the taste and smell might put you off if you're not into the whole seaweed/algae thing. So be prepared with a drink of something else to get rid of the taste, lol!
I never really understood what the benefits of it were, the "specialist" store that sold it to me didn't give much info... basically you can't exactly 'overdose' it... according to the specialist you could pretty much have as many as you wanted and it wouldn't make much of a difference, lol!

Oh I use to take a hair, skin & nails supp! I wonder if it was based in silica? It worked wonders for my nails! I haven't taken it in a couple of years though.

It can go with anything.
Pills are easier (and cheaper) but you've got to take like 6-8 at a time.
I just blend some powder with juice/smoothies.

I swear by having dumped dairy from my diet. Even as a vegetarian, I used to get colds and flu frequently. I'm talking a couple of times in Winter and periodically at other times of the year. If I was around someone who had a cold or the flu, I would undoubtedly start showing symptoms within a couple of days. Not only that, but it usually took me a week to shake it, and then I would suffer from nasal congestion for about the next 3-4 weeks.

In the three Winters I have now been vegan, I have had just two minor colds that lasted barely 2 days and didn't cause me to need to take sick days from work, plus I didn't have the persistent congestion.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of health improvement just by going vegan?

Yeah, most people experience that when they come off the dairy.
Most parents know that when a child has the flu/cold that you shouldn't give them dairy as it encourages mucous growth and impairs the immune system (it's ridiculous to think that it's good for us, LOL) and since we never have it we experience that benefit all year round.
Anyways... Who want's dairy?
Rice, soy, oat, almond, hemp milks and cheeses are so much nicer anyways!
