Good luck trying to stay away from palm oil, because as you said, it's sneakily hidden in most things as "vegetable oil". Unless you go raw, or limit your consumption of pre-packaged goods - you will consume it unfortunately.
And yes Unilever are the devil. They own Dove who test on animals - that in its own right should have given it away (if you knew Dove tested, obviously).
There are plenty of other products out there who don't test and are as good, or better, than any Unilever product
Too true. I don't touch Dove, I use vegan stuff, like eco-store soap, nature's organics shampoo. Unfortunately that conatins palm oil, so it's a bit of a dilemma. But I'm definately avoiding palm oil where I can, like I'm having Kettles Sea Salt (cooked in sunflower oil) rather than Shapes (Palm oil).
I don't consume 98% of palm oil.
I will consume Australian grown palm oil (there is only very little out there) and I always contact companies to find out where they get their palm oil from.
LOTS say they're with "The Round Table For Sustainable Palm Oil" but I still don't want their products as they're owned by people who have an interest in lying to us.
Palm oil is also in many soaps and shampoo/conditioners (lots of which are labeled vegan) so if you're giving it up be aware of that.
Yeah, I'm kind of making it second priority, my veganism being first. I'm avoiding it most of the time, like with snacks and food etc cause I can easily get healthier snacks and ones that don't use palm oil, but when it comes to things like shampoo and soap, if I can't find another cheap vegan one that doesn't use palm oil, I'm just going to stick to it until I do.
