Yeah I can't see why we ought to be excited about this considering the guy's history...

And Matt, I hope you're right but my suspiscion is he'll get on there, talk about worst case scenario farms, then show the best case scenario farms and say buy this because these pigs arent tortured there whole lives, they just endure an horrificly frightening and painful premature death.
Except he won't say that, he'l,l say how lovely and fresh they are and how lovely their lives are and how its so much more natural and hence convince more people its ok to slaughter and butcher and kill and own and exploit animals.

What a hero!

And who knows, we might even get to see a pig being killed on national tv!

I hope he doesn't go slaughtering a pig. They didn't mention it on the tv ad.
I highly doubt that it would be advertised anyway.

I don't think I'll be watching for the following reasons:
1) I pick up my new car tomorrow night happy dance
2) My b/f wouldn't watch it with me (he's a vegetarian anyway so I don't have to convince him) because he can't watch things about animals like that. He even rips out sad stories in the newspaper before I get to it so I don't get sad (he prints it, so he has ample notice it's in there)
3) If there is any slaughter... I'll be having nightmares.
4) I don't want him getting ratings for killing an animal on TV. Yes awesome that he is showing the living conditions... but do you really need to kill, cook and eat the same animal you have just made us all feel sorry for and convince people that they still need meat in their life?

Also just read that his chicken show led to a signifigant increase in poultry sales in the U.K.

It's in kahootz with the RSPCA which SELL VEAL under the label of 'freedom foods'.

These are the problems that arise when we start saying things like buy free range etc.

It maakes people feel fine about it and so they buy more.

After my mother watched the Jamie Oliver thing on battery eggs she just felt better about buying free range eggs, she's always using the "but it's ethical, Jamie Oliver has said so bla bla" excuse when she buys them. I know if she sees it tomorrow she'll just feel better about buying the pork she gets at the farmers market because it's free range.

If you want to help the animals, I would definitely make sure you don't encourage your omnivore friends/family to watch the show.

Why do we listen to people that make money off cooking carcasses and other cruel products about ethics but not others? It doesn't make sense to me.

I understand why you are all saying not to watch it. Are you aware that AA sent around an email requesting we watch it? (Just curious, I got an email).

My omnivore husband watched the chicken one with me and it made him not only buy free range eggs, but but buy eggs a whole lot less often in general. Like I've said in the past, he won't ever give up meat, but seeing Jamie Oliver really showed him what he was buying into with eggs and I was hoping it would do the same with pork.

Is it on in vic? is there any sort of way i can stealth-advertise at school? (aka, leave 50 in the vce center, stack 200 on the printer, slip them into the newspapers [we get like 50 of the age and 50 h.suns delivered every day] and leave them in odd places for bored people to find)

I will be on her thursday night to introduce randoms into the wonderful world that is cruelty-free happy happy happy (if i remember lol)
