Hi all, I just wanted to share this email (or rather bits of it - and with permission) that I received from a supporter today... I found it quite inspiring happy:
EMAIL:

I received an email from your organization a couple of days ago re Jamie Oliver's pig show on tv. ... Yes I watched it last night. I am to say the least, seriously traumatized, I mean seriously, I am not too well today.  Watching that pig get slaughtered, oh my god, how can I possibly express what I felt. ... I now realize that I have been blissfully ignorant until now, but NO MORE!  I have put a sign up in my house to my family that I refuse to support the MURDER of innocent animals ever again, by purchasing meat!. We as a human race are brainwashed from a young age to think it is acceptable to murder and eat these animals, but it isn't.  The biggest problem is that we are exposed to meat as just food, we don't even look at it or think of it as a slain animal.  We are never exposed to the realities of how we get it, and we should be before we can make that decision to eat it.  Thats why society eats meat, they don't realise, out of sight, out of mind!

Jesse, feel free to post this letter if you feel that it might encourage others.
Love from a lady who has just had her eyes opened, thanks to you guys and Jamie Oliver.

Hmm, I heard somewhere (maybe it was one of you guys who said it, or maybe it was mum) but the chicken show was banned or something in the UK.
So maybe he was under network pressure to 'tone it down' a bit, to make it more 'viewer-friendly.' So maybe (just an idea) it's not exactly his decision to fill the show with jokes and cooking, maybe it was the only way he could do it and get TV channels to air it? Networks can be pretty picky like that.
maybe.. but I have a feeling he just wants to make sure his books continue selling - most contaning pork.

ecstatic love

My only other comment is:
What an awesome lady for seeing what the meat industry is, and accepting it, instead of just brushing it away as most people do *gives all the love of the world*  Whoever she is, she just made me feel so happy that I think I might just go and bake some vegan cake happy beaverhug

I leafletted RMIT University this lunchtime. 1 other volunteer.
Leaflet: the Australian "Why Vegan" leaflet.

Today was unprecedented.
In one hour, the two of us got out about 350 leaflets.
I left the other volunteer with the rest of the box (100 leaflets), and she said she is going to get them out in the next hour.

I assume that a lot of people watched TV on Wednesday, and were still thinking about the topic.
