Me, emma and countless other people dont spend hours protesting, .leafletting etc for nothing
God I love you Jack. Exactly. It's not wrong to domesticate aniamls, but to exploit, abuse and torture them like this is. Horse racing is another cruel industry that needs to be banned. Next thing you will tell me is bullfighting isn't "cruel" and the bulls LIKE to have tobuck people off and tr and stop others from stabbing them in the back. Doesn't hurt them at alllll does it?

Fair enough, but your saying to me about all the horses being shot and going to the slaughter house, not every stud does that? Maybe a few but most would never do that? Its not an exploitation of animals either, and my horses don't get nose bleeds or anything like that after a race. Some horses truely love to run, and you guys dont have race horses well some of you might not so do you really know much about it? Your basically going on facts that you dont know are definately true, and not all studs do any of that stuff so how about you actually think about which horses are being treated well.
Actually I know people who own race horses. In fact I have had a tour through the morphetville race course and their "training" facilities. To me it looks like one big cement prison for horses.

Ok, the biggest issue here is yet again HUMANS are using ANIMALS against there will to entertain us. Racing is an human invention, not an animals. Running in the wild at varied speeds in a drove and running around track at high speed at close proximity to other horses with men sitting on top of them whipping them to go faster TO WIN is all exploitation. Horses do not do this in the wild.

Riding your horse in your own paddock is fine, they love that, as long as they do love it and your not just convincing yourself for your own satisfaction. Riding a horse to win a race that humans bet on, drink away their livers and not ever care about the horses is wrong.

Im sorry but have you ever been to a carnival? I have. Its a bunch of people dressed up in ridiculous clothing drinking away their guts, getting hit on by bogans dressed up in penguin suits with tarot card reader stalls and other stupid stalls that have nothing to do with horses! I didnt even see any horses racing thanks to the crowds of people parading around like idiots.

Dont come onto a forum for animal rights, ask about what HAPPENS BEHIND SCENES and than argue against it because your offended. Just because your family breed horses doesnt mean you know everything.  What happens when your horses goes to the jockey? Do you know what happens to every horse you have bred once it retires? I bet you dont.

Dont call us names when your too stubborn to open your eyes.

People only give insults when they obviously not able to come back with any intelligent argument.

Why did you ask the question on an animal rights forum??? Obviously you were somewhat questioning it yourself...

You asked for thoughts, and you got them.

Just read your profile saying you are vegetarian. Can I ask why ? Because if you are a vegetarian and to quote your profile "love animals " You obviously love them enough not to eat them because as meat they are treated as a means to an end. They are slaughtered and mistreated forced to live unnatural lives. I'm guessing you didn't need to visit a factory farm or slaughter house, nor every single farm to figure out if some treat their animals better than others to figure that out?  So you probably haven't witnessed animals being killed for food, yet you think its wrong. You are therefore focusing on the negatives in the slaughter of animals. Why do you assume we all need to have a stud farm and own horses to know that racing them and killing them is not right? Horses are killed the same way as the animals you refuse to eat only to become dog food. What is the difference? Do you point out the positives to eating meat when you tell people you are vegetarian? why would you?why would we protest horse racing and point out how great it is that their owners feed them well and spoil them in between races? Its irrelevant. The point is this doesn't compensate for the rest of the cruelty involved in the industry.

Obviously the bad outweigh the good just as in meat eating.

Obviously us against horse racing have more experience with this issue. We are the ones out there protesting amongst all the race enthusiasts ,witnessing first hand what really happens to horses so we know for ourselves. Tolerating peoples abuse and pathetic arguments they start, purely for the horses sake to end their suffering.

What would you have us do? say gee thats terrible that horse just broke its leg during a jumps race today, but how impressive the owners shot it in the head right there on the track? They were even so kind to put up a big shield so it wouldnt disturb the people watching on laughing and enjoying their drinks. Rather than fixing its broken limb and letting it live out the rest of its natural life in a paddock being feed that wonderful food and great life you talk of.
AS IF WE HAVE A SINGLE THING OTHER THAN NEGATIVE TO CONCENTRATE ON. BECAUSE ITS A DISGUSTING DISGRACEFUL CRUEL INDUSTRY AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE DAY IT IS BANNED.

umm, gaylords?? WTF?

Although the first time I've heard this ....
If I had to define a gaylord I find it more appropriate for the drunken, stumbling overdressed, narrow minded and over opinionated loud mouth race goers .Who loose huge amounts of money betting on horses lives for fun at the races!

Rather than a group of amazing people working to save horses from cruelty happy
