[The youth is our future! IMO we would be better off everyone having 2-3 eco smart children raised to make a difference than everyone having 1 meat eating, petrol guzzling, wasteful, greedy, child.
Vegetarians do help alot with the space issue but i really believe 2-3 children is too much. I think it selfish to breed more than one child and if people want more why not just adopt?
Breadmans suggestion of neutiring people is a good idea, but of course it would be hard to put in place.

Yeah but I don't think it will EVER happen.
I'm not just talking about being vegetarian either, I mean everyone needs to take responsibility for themselves, go veg, grow their own produce, plants trees every year! shop ethically, use solar, ride a bike etc, then 2 would be sustainable versus 1 that has no regard for their carbon footprint.

Most people are raising their children with habits that are no longer sustainable, we need to change our lifestyles.

In my country (South Africa) there is a wonderful move towards real estate development within wild animal protected areas.  People are coexisting with the animals - sharing space in peace and harmony.

The down side is you can not have pets or gardens.  The upside is you live among the animals.

Understandably these areas have no large predators that would endanger the humans with the consequence that the managers of these reserves are compelled to do the work that predators would have done - keep the numbers of herbivores down by culling the surplice animals.  This gives rise to a meat source that has none of the environmental disadvantages of domestic animals.

More and more farms formally used for cattle and sheep are going this route and where these abut similar reserves the fences are coming down and a far more natural, eco friendly situation is developing.
