I recently had a bit of a brainwave, which I thought I would share with you- it's probably already been done, but whatever!

I know I'm not alone when I find how annoying it is to print out and condense lists of cruelty free brands for me to consult when buying toiletries/food etc.

To solve my problem, I went out and bought a super cute address book- mine has a turquoise owl on the cover!- and wrote down alphabetically, companies that DON'T test on animals + whether or not they're vegan friendly. I know there are definitely books out there that list products like this, but I like the personal and DIY feel writing it yoursElf has ecstatic

It's made shopping a cinch- whenever I'm wondering, I just whip out my trusty cruelty free book!

I hope this helps anyone who has the same troubles as me- post pictures of your super cute Cruelty Free books- I wanna see! ecstatic

Jack, I'm curious. Where do you get them from and what kinds of products do they cover?

I love that idea Elf!! It's such a simple idea that I would never have thought of haha.

I would prefer to create my own rather than buy one, as then you can fill it with things that interest you, not have everything under the sun. And writing notes, and such.

Mind you, I now also have a smart phone, so I can Google no matter where I am ^_^

yeah, they're good...but only include toiletries, not food.

a personal notebook's a great idea (at least till someone recognises a demand for a full list of vegan-friendly products that includes cosmetics, food & other supplies that we buy...please let me know if this already exists- I want one!)

Hi Em, Choose Cruelty Free (in A'Beckett St, Melbourne...there must be a website for them- sorry i don't know it offhand) are an organisation that campaigns to stop animal testing. They print booklets listing toiletries & cosmetics that are not tested on animals. They also put out a quarterly (i think) magazine.
So try to contact them & subscribe- it's a great cause! if u have any trouble finding them, send me a message (in case i don't find this thread again) & i'll look for their details 4u

I have an ingredients list and I check out the ethical guide online when I get a chance.  I need to buy one of those!  But I absolutely love this idea!  Might have to leave some room as new companies/things are discovered.  I'd say check out the ethical guide too 'cause there are a lot of 'good' companies that are, in fact, owned by dodgy bad ones.  E.g. The Body Shop is owned by L'Oreal.
