We are deffinitly not over-populated. Yes we may mainly be outback but we still have loads and loads of room in the places suitable for humans. Also if we would have more room of course with less animal farms and we built more community gardens, rooftop gardens and farm skyskrapers.

We also need to look at the way we live. Most people live in 3/4 acre block in a big house and some people live on large hundred acre rural blocks! Come one people land is very valuable we can't be living this. We need to develop well planned, sustainable dense cities. Doesn't even have to be completley high density, many european citys like Paris which is mainly medium density throughout works very well. Also distriution! Australia needs to take in more people from the world because we can! And even within in Australia, we can't all live in Sydney and Melbourne - we need to expand other major cities sustainable and well.

That may be true but that is in a perfect world. In a perfect world all land that is used for animals would be used for growing vegetables. This is an issue of today and you should think of it in matters of grass roots change, not radical change as it will never happen. Unless you become a dictator. happy

I don't exactly agree with reducing peoples' land so that we can build more 3/4 acre blocks. I wouldn't want Oakville to turn into Sydney, or even Castle Hill. The main reason for traffic in Sydney is because the city was planned very very poorly. We don't need another Sydney. We do need another city, but we definitely need to plan it WELL.
Paris is a very well planned city. If we can do that to Sydney... lol!

I know a good way to get more land. Like Paris, we can dig up all the graves and place them under the city. Then we can use the cemeteries for more houses. Have you noticed that in some cemeteries there is a church, then a lot of blank land, THEN you can see the grave sites. Look at Castlebrook in Rouse Hill. So much land that could be used. We could also re-use graves.

Come on people!

If Australia became a country of war, torture and blood shed, I'd sure hope another country would be happy to let me in. It's selfish and cruel for us to try and stop them. They've come from hell, they just want help for crying out loud!

We might have the lowest density of population but it just plain ignorant to forget that Australia is the driest most arid country on earth. Australia can only sustain populations around the coast, thus making our infrastructure so small and the cities over populated.
This sums it up quite well and is an issue felt globally.

Further, we rely on existing infrastructure and public services to support the population and I think we can all agree that many services are already stretched with the current population. Population must be regulated, not just for the existing population - but also for those wishing to move here (not just 'boat people' or refugees, but any and all who want to come).

No i don't want more 3/4 are houses they are bad lol! More apartments, townhouses and terraces planned well.

Problem about Sydney is that there wasn't really any planning lol

Paris isn't actually that great with traffic either.... like lol if you live in the suburbs not near a train station it would take u a long time to the city! We need more good public trasnportation!

I don't know if that will ever happen sad
Because it's kinda far and catching a plane is so easy and cheap..... i prefer catching a train but lol it takes longer to catch a train to sydney than a bus! Plus it's more expensive! And there is the whole issue about the different track gauges in some of the states which they all don't want to change...

I hate when people bag out public transport. If I have the option, I travel by bus and train rather than drive or be driven. It's more economical, lessens traffic, faster (in the case of trains) and is more efficient. Everyone takes the piss out of public transport, but it's a service that everyone uses or has used at some point. I wish more people used public transport.
