So what will happen when people start ditching their cars and trying to take public transport to work? They'll get even more crowded than they already are.
You run more buses, trains, trams etc.
More demand more public transport.
Simple.
I'm defiently not to keen on taking public transport where everyone else leans their heads on the seat, has s*it on their shoes or probaly pick their nose and wipes it in places.
If we're going to have more people in this country, personally I'd rather it to be the English/Britiish or so because they basically settled this country. Besides, us, as Aussies, I mean the ones that have been here for a few generations are getting over-run by the foreigners. The Aussies are becoming a minority group in this country and the government isn't doing barely enough.
Don't forget the Germans!

Courtney, what's your definition of "Aussie", out of interest? A minority, really? Last time I checked, over 80% of Australian citizens were born here. Must an Australian necessarily be white? What about the many millions of English nationals who are not of Caucasian descent? Are they welcome? Personally, I wouldn't want to see the soccer yobs from England heading this way, whatever the colour of their skin.

As a fourth generation Australian of Scottish heritage, I consider the English to be as foreign to this country as Ethiopians - including our Queen, who doesn't even have an Aussie passport, and still needs a visa to enter Australia lawfully.

Really, it amazes me that the type of arguments advocated by those trying to deter/stop/limit the arrival of Asylum Seekers correspond similarly to those advocated by meat-eaters justifying their own privileged practices and existence.

Courtney, if you had said "I would like to see more Chinese immigration because they are hard workers, intelligent, rarely complain and are usually integrated within one or two generations" people on here would be singing your praises. But due to racism (which is now called anti-racism) speaking favorable of a "white" nation is forbidden. Preserving and exalting asian/black/arab/isander cultures is honorable. Preserving aussie culture is forbidden.
As a white person this is a very important lesson. Repeat after me "We have no culture. We have no identity. We nothing to be proud of".

BTW the English are coming here in the largest numbers since the depression. Allot of them are saying they are escaping the mass immigration that England has fallen victim to. Allot of them will tell you that England is no longer England.
Look at France, Sweden, Germany, Ireland. Read their newspapers, listen to what the people have to say. We need to look at these countries that are 20 years ahead of us and decide, is that the future we want?

Am I meant to have a huge guilt over my head that i have access to clean water and others do not? Am I meant to apologise that aussies have a particular standard of living (which we worked bloody hard for) that we want to preserve?
Some people (socialist) wont be happy until we're all 3rd worlders.

The one thing I can tell you is that someone who came here from say, Lebanon and then has a child here - That child is not Australian, only classed as an Australian citizen.

On Australia Day, when I go to the function, you walk around with flags/aussie tattoos/hat's, etc and not only do I see Aussies there, but also some Muslims and African people, etc. What I'm saying here is a bit off-topic, but I guess the thing is that I don't really mind too much who comes into the country, as long as they respect it and show their love for Australia, not trashing the streets by doing things like speeding.

No guilt, just empthy, understanding, compassion. You know, qualities we 'Australian's' are supposed to espouse . We're the same species afterall, not just a set of hierarchical nationalities/ethinicities.

Who is we?

Some people (insert oversimplified categorisation here) won't be happy until we're all part of the developed world.

The goal is not that we should become '3rd worlders', it is that nobody should be a '3rd worlder'.

Aaron, not everyone who believes we should accept asylum seekers is a socialist. You seem to have a really 'big picture' sort of view here, which is good, but do you believe that we should just all stay in our respective countries forever? It won't happen..

"As a white person this is a very important lesson. Repeat after me "We have no culture. We have no identity. We nothing to be proud of".  "

I don't know what I am supposed to be "proud" of. What the hell IS Aussie culture? Most people try to describe it using vague abstract phrases that could really be applied to most cultures in the world.
I'm not proud of anything.

"Am I meant to have a huge guilt over my head that i have access to clean water and others do not? Am I meant to apologise that aussies have a particular standard of living (which we worked bloody hard for) that we want to preserve?"

No, you're just quite lucky you were born here. I honestly believe we have an obligation to try and help the less fortunate ( I won't be made to feel like that's a bad thing) whether they speak our language or look the same, or not.

Courtney you really do have a problem! Your not just racist your xenophobic and if you want to continue living in a multicultural society your either going to have to keep your oppinions like this to yourself or get help because you can't live like that in Australia.

There is no such thing is an Australian ethnicity, just nationality. There is no one ethnicity here that is more Australian than the other as we are a multicultural society. And if you believe that it should be who ever was here the longest that would mean the Aboriginals, not the Europeans.
