It's disgusting how money hungry corps are while exploiting others! It's annoying that they own so many  brands and can afford to sell it at reasonable prices while cruelty free brands are more expensive. Realistically, not everyone can afford vegan pet food sad

Akasha, the only cruelty free brands I've found along my travels are:

- Vegan Pet (vegan)
- Biopet (vegan and cheaper than veganpet) www.biopetonline.com.au
- Eagle Pack (don't test on animals but contains animal bits) www.eaglepack.com.au

Ew... That's tragic and disgusting at the same time. I might try that Nature's Gift pet food. It's Australian and they don't use horse meat. They aren't owned by some big evil company are they?
I am trying to find a not heaps expensive dog food until I can start trying some sort of vegan pet food (as they are all currently out of stock) anyhows...I just emailed Nature's Gift and received this response:
"We do test our products on cats and dogs as we are a manufacturer of pet food.  The animals sample a variety of our products – canned food, dry food and treats to see if they like it and how many do or do not"

I am now sending them a follow up email to find out if they test on lab animals, or volunteer animals (or alike).

EDIT: I got another reply "they are actually tested on the staffs pets at home"

Just an interesting thought, not saying that PETA are wrong about Mars testing on animals but doing a little research all I can find is from PETA or sites related to PETA or from Mars themselves. Personally I think that though PETA have great intentions they completely go about the wrong way of doing things. So though there maybe a inclining of truth (and for which I am not going to take the chance and will be now boycotting all Mars products) I'm not going to believe everything that PETA has to say as well.

*sigh* there go the Maltesers sad LOL
