Hughsey is vegetarian? he said tonight once he found out about veal he gave it up but was totally shocked about the dairy industry

i actually really liked this segment, lots of people watch the 7pm project, so its excellent.
my mum was watching with me, and when they mentioned wanting to withhold food for 30 hours, she just looked at me and was like 'why would they want to do that!?!!' with a big ol' sad look on her face.
all i said was 'now can you see why i've gone vegan?'

if my mum felt that (and i dont think she'll stop drinking milk, but its something she'll think about), then i think a lot of people will be thinking about it.

Did we all notice that the "welfare" representative for the dairy industry, the guy who said that there is no proof that depriving bobby calves of food had a negative effect on them, was FAT! Let's see how he would go without food for 30 hours, especially at 5 days old!
Agreed, it was a wonderful piece... I especially liked (although seeing it made me cry) that they showed how the poor bobby calves are treated during transport to the abattoir- cruelly, callously and with absolutely no respect. Certainly doesn't make the dairy industry look good.

Yeah that was good! I'm annoyed he said that thought, but at the same time I'm kind of glad because it made him look like a fool, well, to me anyways. Also, I found it funny that the only arguement the man from Australian dairy farmers had was that "it's too costly" and "we've been doing this for years, like nearly 200 years!"
It was brilliant, and I'm glad that now people will know the truth! It's wonderful that AA has been able to get the ad in the newspapers, and then get a news story on it!
Hopefully people will re-think their eating choices!

noticing how much of an ignorant butthead that animal welfare guy was.

"there is no evidence depriving calves of food has any negative effects".... of course not...a baby that gets fed every few hours... why would taking its food away for more than a whole day make ti feel hungry or distressed or exhausted.

I think they did a pretty good job. Ive seen a lot of that footage and I know there were parts that really showed how bad the calves are treated, but I guess they have to sugar coat it to be able to show it on tv.
