The age's epicure section was a vegetarian issue today and I picked it up eagerly to read.
The feature article is about a former vegetarian who describes her vegetarian self as 'annoying' and talks about mince meat being the vegetarian's downfall. The restaurant feature is a few good words among a list of famous chefs who denounce vegetarian cooking and one who receives applause for stating he 'doesn't serve vegetarians.'
and the 'vegetarian issue' is merely a three and a half page section.
I'm furious.
I am absolutely furious as well. I want to write in. I read it at work, snatched it out of the paper and im been seething all day.
I got all excited about the interviews with vegans & vegos & then read that friggin thing from that Dubecki woman... actually I couldn't finish reading it as it made me so mad. She makes me furious (has done a number of times with her meat loving crap she spews out).
I'm gonna write to The Age about it too. Imagine not being able to even write a vegie-positive epicure for once in their lives without making negative & condescending comments all through it..... and how "meat free" is fish?
As for that woman who wrote about her "lasagne awakening moment". She couldn't possibly have been very devoted to vegetarianism if a mouthful of baby calf with the name of Blinky didn't make her vomit on the table. I would have dumped the boyfriend and stomped out of his parent's home immediately.
