They do gas toads that's what they did at the Toad Day Out but at hom we freeze them as we thought this was humane.
Freezing can be humane if done slowly... freezers dont do this. Putting them in the fridge first to slow their internal working down, then putting them in the freezer is more humane, but still not great. I really dont think there are any humane practices that can be done at home.
