Why not donate your organs just to science?
That way a omni isn't getting your organs and you're saving animals from being killed and researched on.
This I believe is the best solution so far. It solves all the issues posed by the argument for not being an organ donor, reduces suffering in itself, and provides the scientific community something they rarely get: permission to use something's body parts. I never even considered this, thanks Hedwig!

You ARE giving your organs to omni's ~ people / universities / doctors are animals too.

Body parts from cadavers won't stop animal testing.  Non-human animals are alive and provide a physical response to "tests".

Giving your organs to "science" doesn't necessarily mean you'll be saving another person's life.  The likelihood of donating your heart or your kidneys as an organ donor to keep someone else alive, is far greater.
Aside from being completely rude to Hedwig previously, you're now being completely naive. The first sentence is a non-sequiter, I'm hoping you knew what she meant.

No, body parts from humans won't immediately stop animal testing. The same as going vegan won't immediately stop animal cruelty. The point of it is to do that one thing that makes a small shift to a better end goal. You're doing your part for the animals.

Saving another persons life is precisely the PROBLEM, as it's almost certainly a meat eater, which results in the loss of many more animals lives. That was the dilemma.

Personally, I just can't call ever saving a life a problem/dilemma.

He's not saying that saving a life is a problem/dilemma - he's saying that a dilemma arises when the saving of one human life results in the loss of many non-human animal lives. And the question here is whether as people who so clearly aim to minimise all forms of suffering we can justify the slaughter of many animals for the sake of one human life. I personally value all lives equally so it raises some very uncomfortable questions for me.

It's clear that this isn't a straight forward topic, and that's why I'm stuck sitting on the fence..

I completely understand this mentality, but as a vegan I try and (personally) stop cruelty and suffering of all species.

My actions will not always mean that no animal suffers. If I saw an old lady start to cross a street where I could see that she would definitely be hit by a bus, I would stop her. Just as if an animal was being belted (or even a child) by an adult I would kick up a fuss and stop that as well.

It honestly just wouldn't sit right with me having my organs (if in good condition) rotting with me in a wooden box 6 feet under when they could help someone live, love and laugh for another 10-20 years.
Just as I save animals at the shelter and give them an opportunity to live an extra 10 years (even though they are carnivorous), I'm an organ donor.

I understand what he meant. I'm referring to myself here, and meant that I can't EVER call saving a life a dilemma for me. 'Ever' for me includes whether or not the person will continue to support the meat industry. I want to help all living things. This includes omni human animals, as well as animals. I understand people have a dilemma and that is fine, but for me I dont and I couldnt ever possibly justify the aforementioned arguments in my head and stop donating.  Each to their own.

Do you think they would eat you? I heard they don't like the taste of humans?

hmm, good point. I'm sure there would be some creatures in the sea that would find my yummy vegan body a good feed. Hey i was thinking about starting another thread about asking people if they would date/go out with meat eaters. Not sure how to word it, they changed the name of this topic. any ideas?

Dating would probably be a good thread name. I think there are a few threads on it as well. A lot of us vegans are in relationships with meat eaters happy.
