Dating would probably be a good thread name. I think there are a few threads on it as well. A lot of us vegans are in relationships with meat eaters happy.
ha ha then we shall butt heads again.

Life would be boring if we all agreed on everything tongue In an ideal world, I would love to be dating a vegan though!

Well I'm only 15 and I talk about organ donation sometimes with my parents. I'm going to; you can save someone's life. Who gives a damn if they eat meat or not? It's still a life happy
The percentage of blood donation is extremely low, are you not going to donate some blood every few months just because it's going to a meat eater? I don't know, but once I die everything that can be donated of mine will be. happy

I understand what he meant. I'm referring to myself here, and meant that I can't EVER call saving a life a dilemma for me. 'Ever' for me includes whether or not the person will continue to support the meat industry. I want to help all living things. This includes omni human animals, as well as animals. I understand people have a dilemma and that is fine, but for me I dont and I couldnt ever possibly justify the aforementioned arguments in my head and stop donating.  Each to their own.
I understand your mentality, although I have to ask: Would you save Hitler? Even if there wa sa 98% chance he would continue the genocide he started? After all, you are just saving a life..

I do see that on the face of it, yes, you are saving a life. But as soon as you just look deeper then that, you actually aren't, you're actually aiding someone CAUSE harm. It's like becoming a vegetarian, because on the face of it, you aren't causing harm. But when you look a little deeper into the dairy and egg industries, you're still causing a great amount of harm.

I'm sorry Hedwig, but the irony of your last post just makes me roflmao
There is no need to be completely rude on this forum, it's a valid suggestion and you don't need to laugh at her for making it.
I'm sorry if you were offended Hedwig ~ That certainly wasn't my intention.  I often have a curt manner and apologise if you felt I was rude.

I have no right to judge others' choices, and hope I am given the same courtesy in return.

I have been a vegan for more than 30 years and I used to be a regular blood donor, giving blood every 2-3 months. After running an animal shelter for a number of years and seeing the cruelty people inflict on animals on that level and reflecting on the reasons I became a vegan and have been a fruitarian for nearly three years now, I have decided that I just could not donate my blood any longer to those who are not vegan, and I've taken organ donor off my driver's license. I would donate in a heartbeat to a vegan though. I don't think eating or exploiting animals is any different than eating or exploiting people and I just couldn't think that my life spent working toward helping animals would benefit somebody who was the opposite of that.

Unfortunately you don't have the choice who your organ goes to. It either does or doesn't. And anyway - your family can over turn any decision you've made.

I still stand by everything I said on this thread. And I'm trying really hard not to be enraged by some opinions expressed here. How could you stop donating blood based on the idea that most of it will go to non-vegans? You have no idea who that blood is going to. It could be a child who has been in a serious accident or is very sick. It could be a person who later in their life will have a serious revelation and become an animal activist. It could be a omnivore. I just... I can't wrap my head around it.

Hmmm, they say humans are, internally, just like pigs. So my organs can go to sick pet pigs. Or children if that doesn't work...
I don't think you get a choice. sad

And I hope we aren't too much like pigs or they'll start farming them for their organs!
Bit late... But they already do! My beasties grandma has part of a pig heart in her after a heart attack!!!!!!

well you could be saving the life of someone who will go veg......i dont think we should be PICKY.

I went veg at 17.......if i had needed an organ donation for medical reasons before this and there wasnt any for me....i would be dead and couldnt help animals like i try to now!
