I figured, how can you keep lions, tigers, elephants, camels ect and say you love them, when they are stuck in a cage for most of the time? Even horses! They have to move everywhere, they don't get all the space they need…the list is endless.
I think only dogs should be allowed to preform in circuses. Dogs love to preform. My own dog Coco does, and she loves to show off her talent!

Don't you think?
I don't think dogs should either. They might like to perform, but all animals, like people, have days where they just don't want to do anything. In a circus they're forced to. A lot of the tricks are dangerous, and the dogs can be injured during training. A lot of trainers are also abusive. No animals should be in circuses.
My issue is the fact that everyone has an issue with exotic animals in circuses, what about all the other animals that are stuck in there?
I don't agree with any animals being used for entertainment.
However, I would assume Exotic animals suffer more in captivity, dogs & horses for example have been domesticated for thousands of years, they have adapted to our lifestyles. (A domesticated dog wouldn't have much hope in the 'wild') there really is no natural environment anymore for them. These lions are only 10th generation captivity bred - they are genetically still very wild animals, with strong wild instincts, studies have proven they are the least suitable of all species to life within circuses.
I would also imagine there are very different 'training methods' required to get a dog to do a cute trick than there is to get a Lion (that see's you as a food source) to do a trick for you.
I still don't think that makes it any more right.
No of course not, I don't agree with it either, in my ideal world, no animals would be used merely for entertainment, but I was just trying to explain to you how wild animals are LESS suitable to live with humans in that capacity compared to domesticated animals & that's why they are trying to ban exotic animals in circuses not all animals... baby steps!
I would assume the dogs live with the 'Carnies' in a similar capacity to any family dog - i.e spending alot of time with their family, lots of training/stimulation. I've seen doco's on the Cirque de Soleil and they travel with their beloved family dogs and just for fun have taught them some tricks and incorporated them into some of their shows from time to time. I don't have a problem with this, I think there are dogs being neglected in people's backyards that should be of more concern to us.
It's really annoying. It's great how in the A.C.T we have the laws in place but they keep on comming each year just over the border. And seriously queenbyan is really close to Canberra! It takes just like 22 minutes to go from Queanbeyan to the Canberra CBD.
I tried to train my cat to walk on a leash like a dog when I first got him. All I got was the 'log roll' and growling. He's a super intelligent cat, but training him was extrememly difficult because he didn't like it. So I think these cats must have endured a lot of unhappiness to get to this point, and to me, they don't look like happy cats...
(I never did end up training him, I just got him used to wearing a collar, so when he goes outside on the leash he just does his own thing.)
wow i never thought a cat would do those tricks i highly doubt that any of my 2 cats would do that
