I had no idea... that's just really disgusting and vile.
I REALLY HOPE someone finds an alternative really soon, cruelty free alternatives for all vaccinations... (if that's possible?).
What's really upsetting is I'm required to get the flu shot every year as part of my course, and I usually don't want to anyway because I've heard that sometimes it doesn't even work... but I know I can't not get it otherwise I will fail (that's a guarantee, no exceptions).
It's just so upsetting to hear that, (but I guess what was I expecting right? I mean it's science... U.U)
><. I really wish I didn't have to get it, I feel like a monster.
What course are you doing that requires that?
Say you're allergic to eggs!
Nursing. :/ I have to get a variety of different shots: ATP ATO, Varicella, Hep B etc. as well as Influenza every year in order to go out in clinical placement that is compulsory for the degree. I'm seriously thinking of scraping it and opening up my own animal sanctuary (I wish), but I need money for that and I'd rather finish the degree so I'll always have something
Hrm I always thought they got the virus (or whatever it is) and made it weaker and used that for vaccinations so the body could build up anti-bodies for it. Unless that's what they're doing with the eggs? I never though they needed to use eggs...

Its the fluid in the eggs, they (and this is dumbed down because science and I aren't friends) bascially give the chicks the flu then harvest the fluid, mess around with it then give it to you in such a way that you're getting used to the virus but not getting sick.
And yes, finish your degree, they're working on a better way to do it already, you not having a shot when you need to won't stop them producing the vaccines.
