My friend who grew up vegetarian said bacon was what turned him into an omni. He doesn't eat much of other sorts of meat at all but he eats pig products all the time. I always thought bacon was pretty good, but I much preferred ham (loved it, infact). Thinking back to those days makes me feel sick as pigs are one of my favourite animals now.
I understand the cheese aspect more though. I LOVE(d) cheese, and never thought I'd be able to go vegan because of it. Here I am though
I used to love it as well, I'm not sure what it is about it though. Maybe it's the smoky flavour, or the salt? Either way I also can't stand the smell anymore. Especially when Dad cooks it in winter and the smell gets sucked into the heater vents and fills up my room, yuck.

I think it's because it's so greasy and salty, most omnis love stuff like that. I'd have to admit I used to like bacon, but I'm sure if I ate it now I'd be sick (for reasons other than the obvious being a dead animal)
It's been about 15 ys since I had it but I don't think I ever liked it. I don't even like the fake stuff. It has to be the most offensive smell of any cooking meat too.
I'm only a recent veg and bacon and ham were really hard to give up. I was the one at Christmas who was chewing on the ham bone in the corner. It's salty and yummy and just tastes really nice. I'm not going to lie and say it tasted horrible just because I'm vegetarian now but for me I did love it and sometimes (not all the time now) miss it.
I never really ate bacon, the bacon rind and all the fattiness never really appealed to me. The only pig product I used to eat was ham....I especially miss Hawaiian pizza! That use to be my favourite when I was little. I definitely need to try making a vegan version of it
I'm not into the bacon thing as such, but I was using the sanitarium deli slices and chopped them up and gave them a light fry and the bits tasted smokey which went well in salad.
