Oh wow... I knew about all of those except the isinglass, and I am a huge wine drinker. Wow, they make it hard to be vegan, don't they? Tanks for the info guys, now to go and research vegan wines  cloud9

isinglass which is something taken from the float bladder of the Sturgeon fish. It's used to clarify beer and wines

There needs to be a free iPod touch/iPhone app for this. Where you can type in an additive in the shops and see if it's vegan friendly or not. ecstatic

I just bought wine the other day and failed to read the back beforehand. It actually said that milk and fish were used in the filtration process. Not many wine or beer companies are nice enough to label that.

They make vegan creme liqueurs. Yummy! I recommend Lemoncello Creme Liqueur and Maidens Dream Liqueur - Caramel Creme

I've been trying myself to find out what ingredients contain animal-derived additives. So far I've come across some sites:

http://www.veganpeace.com/ingredients/ingredients.htm
This lists all sorts of ingredients that are either from animal or vegan-friendly, and also those that may come in either animal or vegan versions.

http://www.veggieglobal.com/nutrition/vegetarian-additives-shopping-guide.htm
This site lists E-numbers & they're ingredient names. Some have a small description of said e-numbers/ingredients.

http://www.happycow.net/health-animal-ingredients.html
I think most users here know of this site that contain non-veg*n-friendly ingredients and also has a link to a PDF that has all the ingredients in a 'pocket version'.

Hope this helps in some way happy

I'm not overly strict when it comes to beer and wine - usually I believe it's just a case of 'may contain traces of...' with the filtering process so I don't really mind. My favourite beer is vegan though so generally I get that (but if I can't I'm not overly fussy). Each to their own though happy
