Yea centrelink is a pain. I am thankful we have the oppurtunity to access centrelink payments, as times can be tough, and unfortunate things do happen (lose jobs, sustain injuries.. and so on).

But still, even with saying that, i had a hard time with centrelink too. One thing i would say though, it dosnt help that there are some people out there 'taking advantage' of the system of which makes it harder for the honest people when it comes to centrelink.

Look this is a joke, every 'offensive' comment I have made get taken down, but when someone else says 'all hunters are red necks' it goes over looked.
If I recall correctly, we have removed one post that you made, and at the same time I removed one post made against you. That's all - and that was probably more than a month ago.

You've brought some interesting discussions to the forum, all I'm trying to do is maintain a friendly forum by asking you to report comments you find offensive rather than retaliating. I would ask (and at times have had to ask) the same of some other community members.

eh i dunno, can you hate the hand that feeds you? joking

i remember when i was in highschool and tried to get youth allowance they would only give me $7 a week, apparantly my parents earned too much, never mind their mortgage etc
wait, you expect to get paid buy the government while you are in school? Heard of a partime job?

It's typical for a bunch of vegans to be lazy, your all the same lefty, tree hugging, hippies
ever heard of concentrating on your studies and having parents who are heavily in debt. i quit my PT job to study.

what do you think a government would prefer:

a hard working student while getting a little money on the side to contribute to school/home costs that produces an educated member of society who can go out and achieve whatever she wants and hold a great job and contributes positively to society.

or

someone who puts more effort into their job at pizza hut than their studies, doesn't get a good enough UAI to get into the course they want so they end up working crap jobs and not contributing all that much to society.

Either way at least I'm not one of the many high school drop outs who turn into baby machines at the age of 14 and give up on trying to be respectable members of society and just bludge off the government. After staring my tertiary education it took me 9 months to get a part time job, do where am I supposed to get money?

Australians are lucky to have centrelink, many people would be on the street otherwise, people get pissed off at the system because it's trying to weed out the people who try and take advantage of it.

As a full time uni student, you'd think I'd be entitled to help... but no. Unless I miraculously work full time AS WELL AS studying full time, or unless my parents are below the poverty line, they won't do anything for me. >.>

Also, even when students ARE eligible for payment, they get less than DOLE bludgers.

Oh, and before Sebastian pounces on me, YES, I DO have a job. It's just impossible for me to work sufficient hours to be regarded as 'financially independent' as well as study full time (the student welfare isn't available for part time uni students either).

Your brother manages to study full time at university and earn enough to pay for rent/mortgage, bills, health care, petrol, car rego, groceries, etc? Clearly your brother isn't dedicating sufficient time to his studies.

I spend four days a week in uni, and the remaining three days working. I have no weekend, no time off. Every free hour I have I dedicate to working and saving up. I'm 17 years old and they hardly pay me well. I live TWO HOURS away from university and despite working my arse off in the little time university leaves me to do so, I cannot afford to move out of my parents home just yet. I SHOULD be entitled to help from Centrelink, but apparently not.

I'm hardly some lazy "hippie" as you seem to accuse vegans of being.

she isn't your brother. each piece of circumstance in someone's life determines the outcome of whatever center link gives them.

what purpose/information do you intend on contributing to this discussion? purposefully trying to bring down people does not count.
