While it may horrify you to step foot in a restuarant whose corporation is responsible for the exact treatment to animals we're fighting to stop. As much as we boycott, they dont seem to feel the pinch as much as we'd hope, they have many a loyal customer going a-nowhere  cry

To the corporations, when we go vegan, we could have well died for all they know, it doesn't phase they're advertise or what they offer.

However I encourage to maybe on one occasion do go into a fast food store and request a vegetarian option. I quite often get a burger without the pattie. They dont charge for the pattie, so the sales information goes: up 1 bun, up whatever salad, DOWN one meat pattie.  If you combine this with requests for a veggie burger, we may get a result such as in the US; Burger King introduced their first Veggie Burger.

The importance of this is that people who aren't entirely eco-fantastic can still opt for a much better option even if they do buy their lunch at these places, they may have just received a pamphlet and they deserve the option.

Also it opens their eyes that they can substantiate a business without Meat as a number one seller. It could even lead to vegan fast food chains... Kentucky Fried Chickpeas please

My grandchildren might say, "It was Kentucky Fried What originally? Thats horrific, I cant' believe people used to eat chickens that way.."

So please go and express yourself to the chains. I've even had some girls at my local red rooster smiling and being extra nice because I made them do up a veg meal and they even charge me way way less, so try it for the animals

I agree! I get a vegetarian burger at Hungry Jacks when my family goes out to get fast food (hardly ever by the way) and I think other vegetarians should too, cause it just boosts the vegie burger sales.

I always thought the HJs 'veggie burger' isn't actually vegetarian.. Or has this changed?

It's got cheese it in, Rennet is listed online as an ingredient, so no.
It's still a better option in the tone of the original post though.

Doing this is still supporting horrible companies!
Who cares if they have a veg option or not, they shouldn't exsist anyway (except for LOTF because they are ethical).
For example, McDonalds destroy an extreme amount of rainforests. Do you really want to support such an act?

Well, no, of course not. I'd love it if all fast food places were shut down, unless they are veg. But by always buying veg foods from places that support killing animals, its just making it look like that a bun and salad is more…popular.

But it is better not to even support things like that really. sad

How is LOTF any different to other takeaway stores, they sell egg as well.....

I'm sure we still all shop at coles or woolies which supports cruelty in one way or another too.

Support the veg options, and the producers will listen. it's called supply and demand.

Supply and demand only works if the demand for the vego product is roughly comparable in quantity of demand as it is for meat products. They would act as substitutes and you'd have more a success of consumers opting for the vego option in place of the meat option. That is no where near realised at the moment. Getting to those levels is highly contentious... (ratio between existing veg*ns to non-veg*ns is pretty ridiculous. Sad but true. Can encouraging vego options make a meaningful change?)

At present, companies like Hungry Jacks and Oportos offer vego options as a way of increasing their consumer base. Netting a growing trend of vegetarians can make a helpful contribution to their revenues as well as attracting a growing health culture fostered by the 'obesity epidemic'. If you can net vegos into buying your product as well as meat-eaters, why not do it then?

Hard to say definitively whether buying from these corps makes a difference. Dollars come first to them, not the ethical consideration of their product (unless that bites into their profit).

And do we want to encourage veggie fast-food? Can that betray the health benefits that veg*nism has over animal products and their derivatives? Will it help animals in plight?

Not sure.

Well I can't talk for all vegans, but everyone likes a bit of 'fast-food' every now and then.
