I have been full vegetarian now for 5 days, still consuming eggs and cheese and have consumed milk in small doses. Im talking a mutlivitamin by blackmores although It diesnt say anything about being vegetarian. Im also taking an iron tablet. I have been a vegetarian a few years ago for about 4 or 5 months and that wasnt too bad so I think I will start gently with the vegetarian idea. I do truly see that I can t turn a blind eye. I have tried but then it will come to haunt me the fact that its got to do with the death or mistreatment of an animal which makes me ill at how evil it is. I have to resolve to not turn a blind eye and stay aware!!! The truth hurts. Whats really interesting is the fact that we dont really even need meat etc!! Its all just a big money making thing for companies. I know people who have lived on a raw vegan diet for 10 years and are doing quite fine. So yeah. I just think we live in a brainwashed society that is in an old fashioned and evil time warp!!!

Well done! happy

If not already, buy a veg cookbook and you'll find a new love of food and discover food that you had never knew existed!

I'd also recc getting a blood test done in 6 weeks to see if you actually need supplements.

Oh, and the whole omni vs veg thing doesn't get any easier but you'll learn to ignore stupid taunts. Just know what you're doing is the most compassionate thing you can do for the little critters peace

I'd recommend not taking iron tablets unless your doctor says you have a deficiency. It can be dangerous taking iron tablets unless you need to. It's really not necessary otherwise, as you can get all the nutrients you need from a veg/vegan diet.

I don't have trouble sticking to it at all because it's the easiest thing in the world to justify.

Start associating animal products e.g. meat, cheese, milk etc with the treatment that the animals suffer for your taste buds.

When you see a steak, instead of thinking of it as food mentally go through what happened to the animal it came from. Imagine THE COWS fear as it was dragged into the slaughter house, the smells and sounds that THE COW endured as it saw its mate have a bolt shot into the top of it's head, the image of blood poring from it's throat as it is hoisted up on a hook.

If dairy is your weakness imagine being a MOTHER watching as your baby is taken away a few days after birth never to be seen again, being forced year after year to keep giving birth and knowing every time that THE HUMANS will again steal your baby.

When you start seeing animals as LIVING, FEELING, BEINGS your choices become easy.

Take it slow, don't beat yourself up when you slip up, when you're struggling to resist the smell of bbq (that was hard for me) try and think about what you're eating, picture whatever it was that disgusted you enough to go veg in the first place.

After awhile you feel like it's unnatural to be living any other way. My coworkers could never understand why I wouldn't eat their cupcakes or anything. The best way I could explain it was

"Imagine that you have a cupcake and it looks ridiculously good. But you KNOW that someone had urinated in the ingredients. Would you still eat it?"

That's just what animal products seem to me though. Its just body excrements that there's no way I'm placing in my mouth or on my skin.

Your whole way of thinking about things tends to change and you can't use the same justifications for animal products any more.
