That's exactly how I see it.. Both are doing the same things, wanting people to believe what they believe.. Religious people, and animal activists are not much different from eachother
I couldn't disagree more with this.
One is asking people to have faith in mistranslated, contradictory, edited texts written thousands of years ago by god knows who, god knows when.
The other, however, is asking people to pay attention to the worst acts of cruelty, enslavement & merciless slaughter on the planet that goes on unabated every single day.
Try not to compare apples with oranges.
Try not to be disrespectful please. Im not saying the BELIEFS are the same. Im saying the concept of pushing your beliefs on someone else is the same. Everyone is guilty of pushing beliefs on others, and it's totally out of line. No one cares about anything when it's pushed onto them.
I don't go to church, because i wont live by the bible. I wont live how people tell me to. I wont live how a priest believes i should. But, i do believe there is a god. I solely believe he is just a higher being- much like humans, but sort of a 'super-hero' human (as dumb as that sounds) .. I have a set of beliefs, that i think are right.. I very rarely share what i believe, just because theyre my beliefs, and no one elses. Id rather people believe what they want to believe, instead of me opening my mouth about mine. Im sort of scared if i start, i wont stop haha. All i say is i believe in God, a higher being- and thats the end of it haha. My boyfriend is much the same as me, he believes, but he doesn't follow the bible. I don't disrespect, but i disagree with people that follow the bible whole-heartedly.. Cos im a bit skeptical that they dont actually know what theyre following, because it is so mis interpreted..
Sounds very much like my lifestyle when I believed in god.
When I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband) I stopped going to church, but I did believe in god.
Organised religion is often money hungry and incredibly strict.

I apologize if you think I was being disrespectful. I can assure you I didn't mean to offend you.
I, too, am not saying the beliefs are the same or even similar, simply because only ONE of them is a belief. Veganism is not a belief. Saying that animals should have rights is not a belief. Saying that animals shouldn't be tortured and slaughtered is NOT a belief.
If it is, then what else do you consider a system of belief? Thinking that murder, rape, torture etc where humans are the victims is also a belief I suppose?
Bad wording I guess. But vegans, vegetarians.. Know that animals have right.. (So should everyone) but they don't.. Others believe that they dont.. They dont know it, they just think it.. I only say that people pushing what they think is right onto others is a similar thing.. I dont think people should push anything. Whether it's for animals, or for religion. Discussing, educating, talking about it.. Okay.. But there is sometimes a fine line between the two..
hahaa this convo has gotten heated.LOL... I suppose another point I want to make which is in a way related to the original topic...(LOL) is that I believe God is love~People tell me this when I start to feel condemned about things. And I suppose this means that whatever the issue , homosexuality, animal rights, human rights, as long as there is love involved Im sure God wouldnt mind. Dont say that Im saying it says homosexuality is said to be ok in the point of view of the Bible, because to be quite honest, the Bible is confusing and it does confuse me . I think anyone who says they completely understand everything in it really doesnt know what theyre talking about. But again, I think that its important to remember not to let some paper in a book that has been translated so many times and interpreted in different ways to affect your love of God. I think the main thing really is that God is love. And that said, if people are eating meat with no regard for the cruelty that goes on that causes horrible suffering to animals , I dont really think that is loving. PEACE DUDES
