I've always battled with my weight, with me always losing lol, I sit around 71kg give or take a few kgs but I'm really short a whole of 5"1 and that's way too heavy. I can't help with the gaining of the weight problem 'coz I tend to sniff food and put on weight but for those concerned about eating too much processed food, I'm hearing you! Over the last few weeks, in particular, I have been very wary about how much processed food I have been consuming and have really worked to cut it right back. I'm cutting right back on 'mock meats', swapping Nuttlex for avocado, white bread to wholegrain, making my own pasta, lots of fruit instead of crackers or chips, fruit juice or water instead of diet soft drinks or Lipton Ice Tea (it's my kryptonite sad ). I know that's a lot of fructose but I'd rather be consuming that instead of refined sugars. I've really upped my veggies and just try to eat as many as I possibly can in a day, after all there are next to no kilojoules in veggies!

I got concerned when I really began to think about going vegan and was looking at things like Toffutti, which have several different ingredients, a lot that are processed  heavily before even making it into it. I'm not happy about it and I think the best bet for me is to eat as much basic, natural and organic foods as I can.

'jacket potatoes' were also a favourite of mine. if you dont mind carbs.... i think theyre great . we need them. seriously A big baked potato - fluffy on the inside & crispy on the outside.

melted nuttelex on top with a diced-vegetable stirfry & balsamic vinigar & parsely.
vegan cheese & cream optional =D

I find Lentil soup quite filling, im not so much into the watery soups as the ones pack with vegies~! filling and so nutritious..... use any vegies you have - even ones u dont like like celery etc lol , all the flavours melt out together..

i lost 8 kgs after going vegetarian...probs coz i was living on a bus with no food lol but now vegan put on about half of that!....well prob coz ive got my own place now and yummy food! other than doin school work i have food. to eat =D ...... get too excited with so good ice cream & sausages me thinks.

im at 55kg, but im like 5.1 -2 ft . at 17 ive stopped growing. any extra weight i go this way <-----> not that way ^ anymore :/

When I first went vegan I noticed that I lost maybe 1kg, Then I got quite sick and couldnt eat for about a week.. and I lost another 3kg. I was at 48-49kg (163cm tall) and of course all my clothes were hanging off me! gross.
I found it really hard trying to put the weight back on... I would buy a packet of plain CC's and eat the whole bag haha, I'd always try and increase the volume too, rather than eating too much crap.
Now I'm nearly back to my normal weight (~51-52kg) and I need to slow down with the food now!! I'm just trying to maintain that my meals are about 90% veggies, rather than carbs etc. I still love the processed pies, toffuti etc

Re: Veggie soup.

If you make your own it can be really filling, you can make it really thick.

I usually roast my veggies (gives the soup a great flavour)
Usual things I put in...
Roasted with oil and herbs- Pumpkin, sweet potato, sometimes potato, garlic, onion, carrots, zuccini. Then I boil some broccoli and also add kidney beans. Blend it all together add some spices, some more herbs if desired and a bit of water (Depends how thick you want it).
And there you have delicious, filling veggie soup.

If you want your soups to be more filling, try adding things like oats, lentils and barely.

Edit:  idea In Italy my host dad used to give us pasta or rice and pour minestrone over it. For a healthier, more filling option, you could do the same thing with quinoa.

I lost 8kg when I first became vegan (I'd put weight on when I was vegetarian due to all that cheese & cracker eating, lol). I can now maintain my weight easily and don't exercise.

I've found that I put on weight if I'm eating lots of "mock" meats and processed food.
I have this problem...I'm eating too many processed foods lately. I need to get back to basics!
Anyone have any favourite healthy low-calorie meals?
I know me too! My prob is my bf is omni and he loves mock meat/cheese so I have to cave in to cater for him wink
