I'm vegan for ethical reasons, and have been Raw in the past, but that was for health.
Is there an extra ethical/some other reason to be Raw?
What made you make the switch?
I am not a raw vegan, but having thought bout it the ethical considerations i can come up with is by definition excluding all processed foods which means your avoiding the majority of emulsifiers and GM foods (the problem with GM products is all of them are tested on animals for toxins). Another benefit would be how easy it is to eat vegan across borders/countries, if your using raw fruits/vegetables then you don't have to be worried about companies sneaking in any hidden ingredients for the majority of foods.
Hmm

Hey there!!! MEEEEE well not absolutely yet, but I have bought a blender and recently got a food processor to help me with the raw lifestyle. I sometimes stay up till 4am watching vids on youtube from raw food chefs who inspire me. Seeing as your from Vic also , there was actually a raw food vegan restaurant in Albert Park a friend of a friend owned, but due to unpopularness its closed as a restaurant although is still open as a shop!! happy

I'm not raw for ethical reasons. Well, I guess you could say I am. I'm not about to be one of those unhealthy vegans valuing all life equally, but putting myself second. No, I still need to look after myself, and so far Raw Veganism is the ultimate diet in my books. Start the day with a green smoothie and I find I'm almost set for the whole day. I've got diabetes, and this diet allows me to drastically cut down on my insulin intake! It's win win win win win win win.

yes I find when I start off with green smoothie (oh by the way adding Vital Greens is really good in it) I find myself having more energy during the day than if I ate some sort of grain breakfast or what most people eat. I love it. I found a great recipe for zucchini pasta and you just need a vegetable peeler, its really yum. raw zucchini isnt as bad as I thought it would be

Grains in the morning, like pastas I am guessing, provide a longer but lesser amount of energy, which metabolizes over the course of a day. I'd feel lagged out, digesting something the whole day bahahha. I normally have cereal laaaate at night.

So your green smoothie sounds nice!

Mind sharing...

I am looking for some yum things to blend up.. I found a 'creamy smoothie' on a website once.
and it inspired me to buy agave nectar, but now I can't find the recipe again.. it had frozen berries i think, and looked creamy. but of course on a Vegan blog//website.

Waking up with an energy kick, would get me through the day also, much better than a wholesome//weighty breakfast .. I can scavenge the rest, by being less mentally draining on myself.. through out the day, as long as having something super nutritious at some point.

Any tips on going raw? Unfortunately our blender carked it so I haven't had a smoothie in too long. sad BUT we are soon to be acquiring a blender-juicer-food processor which should be absolutely smashing.

I'm starting my transition to raw tomorrow! And plus we've ordered a new Vitamix which should be here mid-next week. And I'm working on getting a raw book too so at the moment I don't have much to contribute xD I'm going to do it for the health reasons- heard so many amazing things about it!
