They wernt put on the earth to race. When your dogs are to old to race- or no longer any good, what will you do with them? Get rid of them and get more? Continue to breed them and make a bigger problem about the amount of stray/put down animals.

I've got a list of things if you want to discuss who's being rude.

Not to mention the amount of greyhounds that are abandoned or put down when they can no longer win/race.
Well, if one of my greyhounds can't run anymore, I find a good home for them.

And thats rude if you call me a moron. sad
How do you know it's a good home? Your condoning such a problemed thing. You obviously don't care about your animal if you'd just get rid of it when it's no good.

And i thought getting your dog dexesed was cruel only months ago, until i got my dog dexesed, he was in pain for a few hours- and then was himself straight away..

Are you seriously wanting an answer or are you trolling? Do you just want a reaction out of us? Or are you actually curious? I can't tell.
No I am curious. Why do people think greyhound racing is so bad?
I :
- Feed the dogs a mixture of dry food, raw meat and veggies
- They get to run around the track for their exersise every week
- They get to do natural things like raise their own pups, instead of desexing them which is just mean sad
- They have lots of comfy bedding in their kennels

And they love to chase the 'rabbit' around the track, like they were oringally bred for!
This is a fair enough question. Not all breeders are bad and you can get the ones who really do care for their dogs even in the greyhound racing industry. The problem I have with greyhound racing is mainly due to the larger kennel businesses who hold the dogs in their kennels until its time for their exercise or race. With these businesses its more money driven than the love of the dogs- so if a bitch isn't able to breed or dog isn't able to run fast they are usually abandoned, starved, shot or burned. As greyhounds have tattoos on their ears the corpses are usually found without the ears so that the breeder can not be linked and if there is a distinct colouring of the dog, they will skin the dog too.

I understand there are those who love their greyhounds and I know many people in greyhound rescue also race their dogs because they do take proper care of them and treat them well. Yes greyhounds like to run, but these big businesses that care more for the cash than the welfare of the dogs make it cruel and inhumane.

Though Im very much against your desexing statement- it is not cruel. You are preventing the risks of many cancers and issues, plus it gives the dogs in rescue a better chance of being adopted if there's less breeders.

Oh, and greyhounds were bred to hunt yes but in Ancient Egypt they were seen as royalty standard- they were mainly used as companion dogs. Greyhounds dont need to race. They are sprinters and do not need to run for a very long time, taking them to an offleash park or beach and playing fetch is more than enough.

OKAYYYYY peoples, I smell a troll. I suggest we just ignore this silly person and hide this thread shall we? The past couple of days on Unleashed has been hetic, from people posting silly threads, and Unleashed felt more like a battle ground than a site for animal lovers. So, before this thread turns into another war yet again, it would just be easier, and better, to hide it.

Thank the Lord for the hide button!

I think this person should sit down and watch Earthlings. I don't think anything we could say would make a difference. Kunnigan, I think you should watch Earthlings. You might then understand what this forum stands for.

Also the pure fact that she said "When my dogs can no longer run I find good homes for them" Suggest it is alllll business, no real love of the animal.

Its not business, its fun, and for the love of the dog. If I can't find a suitable home, I hold onto that dog for a while. and if I can;t, it either stays with me, or is HUMANELY EUTHANISED!

I agree.. THere may be people who care about their animals, but they're obviously not one of them. If I used cargo for some sort of sport or something and got rid of him when he's useless, i'd be a bad pet owner. But i dont make my dog do anything he doesn't want to- except piss outside.. No animal, or person should be forced to do anything. If your greyhounds had a choice- they wouldnt race.. they'd be at home with nice owners playing around with kids or something.
