It's because they are treated like objects and are forced to do things off a persons accord.

They may be sociable and love running but how can you tell that they truly want to race? All the greyhounds have not just gathered together and raced eachother.. People have organised events specifically to force the dogs into racing.

Owners also mistreat their dogs if they lose a race and alike puppy farms once the dog can no longer complete the purpose the owner intended, the poor dogs get killed.

We recently adopted a retired racer, he just turned 5 years old and is lapping up all the love.  I try to give him extra love as he missed out on so much for most of his life.  I don't think he was mistreated but he wouldn't have got the love he deserves to have.  He fits in well with the family and his new brother a 4 year old Koolie.

if anyone is thinking of adopting a greyhound I strongly recommend it

they don't even need a lot of exercise as they are the original couch potato

Um, my dogs LOVE running, thank you very much. Its people like you that make greyhound racing look wrong and cruel.  angry furious
someones opinion cannot make something appear ... this way...

just do what you know is right and keep them in a large open area,
which is hospitable and with out a chain on...

THEN if they choose to go sleep in a corner and use 2% of that area... maybe you will have a case.

But like you said, if you give a street kid a blanket made out of rubish you stitched together, they will look pretty f**ken happy... but if you tried to give it to someone who has known luxury, they will look at you like wtf stop talking to me you weirdo.

animals aren't really going to complain about the economic climate... so don't expect to know how they truly feel as they are quite capable at coping in any situation they find themselves being born into.

some kids are bred for the slave trade market... I bet they'd be happy to have their own kennel and food brought to them and someone to care about owning them.

unfortunately any sport involving animals and money can lead to animal abuse
