Just wondered how everyone copes with this...and if you have any tips for me to make life a little easier happy

My hubby and son are meat eaters, my daughter is vegetarian and I'm a longtime vegan....

I find we are cooking 3 separate meals every night to suit everyone...and we all think we are morally right about our lifestyles.eg, hubby would never give up meat and  I would never touch it....

Does anyone else have this same type of issue???  Just wondering how other people cope with this mixed up family diet type thing happy

Hmmm.... I'm kind of the same, I'm vegetarian and the rest of my family eats meat. I usually cook my own meals [love to!] and sometimes my father will cook a stir fry for me [mine doesn't compare tongue]. It does interfere sometimes with getting in and out of the kitchen, and it can use up more pans & stuff trying to cook a different meal.. But it's all fine in the end happy I have my own section of the fridge and freezer to put nommy veg food in too! wink

Hahah. I'm vegan, my family are all meat eaters, and my brother eats nothing but junk food and meat.

I cook all my own meals, and quite often my OTHER brother or my parents will ask me to dish them up some of what I'm eating. My unhealthy brother pretty much just lives off of pies, white bread and two-minute noodles, and my dad cooks for mum, my other brother and himself.

My unhealthy brother will tell you that he will not eat ANYTHING vegan, EVER. That rule goes out the window where brownies or chocolate chip cookies are concerned. tongue

i would show them how great vegan alternatives are....serve him some veggie shnitzels or something. i dont eat the ones from the shop as they all contain egg white but its better than chicken...

the vegan roast [sanitarium] is great though.

i honestly commend you.. i could not live in a household like that.  i dont live with mum or dad . both households [ 8 ppl in total...including parents, partners n siblings] all eat meat. i hate it.....

at christmas the boys make fun of me i just feel like slapping them one.... its so selfish because most guys wont hear me out and honestly i would like to see them get abattoir treatment

Perhaps the boys can cook for themselves and your daughter can eat what you eat? Surely she doesn't have to have dairy or eggs in every meal she eats?
Or maybe the boys can have what you have with a side of meat (if they insist on it)?

If my mum is cooking anything non vegan then I just cook my own meal. Though they are usually more than happy for me to cook dinner for everyone - luckily they love vegan food happy

Have you tried buying all the mock chicken, beef, prawns etc from asian grocery stores? They taste incredibly good and so far all my omni friends and family love all the meals I make with mock meat.
If your hubby still wants to eat meat then maybe you could cook a vegan meal such as a stir-fry, pasta, rice etc. and then after you dish out yours he can add his meat too it?

I'm vegan but my husband and 2 kids are omnivores.
On some rare occasions we have separate dinners - when hubby buys meat for himself and the kids. That doesn't happen often because if he wants a meat dinner, he has to cook it himself... and he hates cooking. lol

So, most of the time they have vegan dinners with me!
love

EDIT: Perhaps the boys in your house can eat what you have, but they can add meat to their serves? And if your daughter wants, she could add cheese?
Just a thought.  peace

Thanks for all your answers everyone...so really valid points there.

As far as trying to show the boys the vegan alternatives, they usually do try my food, but with a piece of meat on the side.

Just glad to know I'm not the only person in this position happy
