AAAh Chewie, definitely on your side on this one. What bothers me most is encouraging residents to break the birds next. Imagine the pain if someone doesn't do it properly. Can you get a petition going? Find some information on Council entitlement with animal cruelty. Mynas make great pets and you can teach them to talk. Change the title to "Indian Myna bird education program," counteract your council. Post brochures about how great these birds are and explain the cruelty involved. x0x0 Good Luck my friend.
I'd argue that the Indian Myna is (now) part of the urban ecosystem in Sydney. Eradication? Really? For what reason? Because they're a 'pest'? Because they're threatening 'native' animals? (inverted commas = contentious meaning of 'native').
*points to plethora of previous discussions on "invasive" species*
Yes, I agree, the way they are doing it is wrong. They should euthanise them, not just snap their necks! Its horrible. If you are going to harm creatures for being in the wrong place, it should be your responsibility to make sure they leave Earth with as little stress as possible.
no, you should not kill animals, leave it to the wattle birds.
