This question has a very simple answer, no. Even though it seems incredibly hard for some people to grasp it.
My mum and friends at school still believe you can eat chicken and remain vegetarian. I don't know. Apparently chicken are walking plants and fish are swimming ones. But it's good your mum is kinda supporting your choices.
Yeah I talked to my mum about this today and she believes that if I eat fish I won't be veg so shes agreed that I don't have to. Although going off meat has thrown my family a bit, my mum think that its not good for me and is taking me to the doctors as she wants me to go on iron tablets to replace the meat but doesn't want me to go on them without doctors approval, even the thought of eating meat now makes me fill suck.
Even if the doctor does prescribe you iron tablets, you don't have to actually take them.
ALOT of vegetables have iron and protein, you do not have to take tablets -_-
Agreed.
Go to the doctor with your mum armed with info on how to have a healthy vego diet. You don't need supplements. I've never used them and I've never had issues. I know that's a personal statement but there's studies to back it up + a bit of common sense.
The three of you should make some sense of it. It will give your mum piece of mind that your doctor and you both can explain how you can eat well (unless your doctor is too lazy etc then call them out on it) and also help you mum know how to help you eat well too. Nom nom nom spinach!

True but I would think it's best to do an alternative if it can be helped.
You don't want to have to tell a white lie. It's better to have parents getting it, even if it takes awhile. If they find out you lied, they'll flip more usually and are harder to convince the second time.
Plus, even in the vego and vegan communities, many of us take too many vitamins and supplements. Don't take anything unless you do need them. Extra x doesn't make you healthier if your body is already getting it/producing it fine.

Usually because they don't view them as sentient beings - rather as types of meat. Red meat, white meat, seafood. I knew a 'vegetarian' family that went with white meat is okay! I'm not sure how this myth really stuck. Was the beef industry the first to be exposed for cruel practices or poultry to the mainstream media? So when we starting going boo beef there was spin to go yes poultry?
Now this thread has prompted me to go do some digging (unless someone can tell me a quick answer, that would be awesome)...
