I work with Kangaroos. If we cut their dam size in half, fed them 20kg of pellets instead of 40kg, and denied them access to their grass and hay, it  is very likely they would stop breeding. Kangaroos control their own population, if there is plenty of food and water they will breed, but if there is not enough, or only enough to provide for the existing Kangaroos, they will not breed. So, maybe, instead of slaughtering every animal that becomes slightly over populated, why not instead control their resources, so that only the existing Kangaroos have enough to survive.

Pray tell me how it should be done on the vast areas populated by millions of kangaroos in Western Queensland.  Again another totally idealistic impractical solution.  With all due respect I hasten to add.  I would love for some of you who possess open minds to visit my neck of the woods for a little enlightenment. Again unfortunately I will wait for the cows to come home before my doorstep would be darkened.  Please open your minds and you never know there maybe a compromise made or if not agreement to agree to disagree with respect to each other's view.

I ask you one question.  Where do you live ?  No need for an exact address of course.

Oh the good old Defence Force, called in to relocate kangaroos.  Which planet are you living on.....  How do you think our DF is going to catch them and relocate them.  Really you have NO idea how many of these creatures are out here.  Please don't insult you own intelligence by making such rediculous suggestions....  It is these ideas that fail AA miserably in the area of credibility.

Like stated in the above section, they can reduce population naturally. They can be moved. These are compromises. Going all "Annie get your gun" on the Kangaroos and believing that you have the right to take a life simply because they look different to you or are "annoying" is not a compromise.

I live in Brisbane now, however, I spent 17 years in Hervey Bay... While in the center it's a suburban tourist-y destination, it's surrounded by farms that I have spent many-a-day on. Don't assume I'm clueless, and I don't see how having an open mind is a bad thing when it comes to compromise and using intelligence over violence.

Uhh... Cassie... You were assuming I'm clueless? Do you know how a majority of the "culls" are done? WELL FIRST, THE DEFENSE FORCE ROUNDS THEM UP INTO A PEN. That's how they count them and then they shoot them. This causes panic, joeys are trampled, animals are stressed... So, yes, actually, either way they would need to round them up. One way just means they are moved instead of being horrible. Perhaps YOU should not discredit your own intelligence by adding more assumptions, accusations and non-factual statements to your OPINION.

I also liked how you glossed over many more of my points again. You're very good at that.

I think each kangaroo should be put up against one person each. In paw to hand combat, and if we win then so be it and if the kangaroos win then there will be less humans.. call it natural selection.

you don't condone it unless it is another species, for selfish reasons... right?

This conversation could become personal and unpleasant.  I really think you are a thinking woman but your thoughts/opinions are way off the truth with kangaroo population and the controlling of it.  I bet the DF only tried the rounding up once to realize that it is impossible.  Look I visit Brisbane often as I have family there so maybe we could meet up and better still maybe you could visit Western Queensland so as your arguments are then validated.  We are a very welcoming home and always have people with eclectic opinions, livestyles etc staying.  You would not be the first vegetarian I have had to visit.
