Yeah, well done new vegans....WUHU!!!
My father is an ex-dairy farmer. I went out there one day, and that was the moment I went Vegan. I couldn't believe how much pain and suffering went on. And any one there that doesn't think killing happens on dairy farms....I am here to tell you it does.

All the beautiful calfs and their mothers thank you all so much for turning to the compassionate Vegan diet.
i think the problem is, most people think cows just produce milk.. they think "if you don't milk them they will die"
they don't actually know that they have to give birth to produce milk... and they don't know what happens to the calfs
or they are just ignorant to this fact (which makes it worse)

Is this the same campaign from earlier this year? The time off feed campaign?

Thanks wolf, if only you could save them all, it was difficult when i herd the abbitior buyer bid and won all the other calfs, 7 went to the abbitor and 2 came with me happy . they are loving life, they are in my house paddock with the 2 horses and 6 other calfs - one of which i am bottle rearing and 5 cows. We have this sawdust mound and of a afternoon  the cows and calfs all run up and down the mound, its so cute ... the calfs race each other and jump off the top and buck like crazy haha there so cute tongue

Hi guys,

Yep Animals Australia is still pushing for a less starvation inducing 'time off feed' (or TOF) standard.

The industry is still trying to have that set at 30 hours (I can't even imagine that, I'm hungry now and I only ate 2 hours ago!)

Without getting too much into the boring legislation side of things, the Ministers were supposed to make a decision last week - but couldn't - however they were only choosing between 2 options - 24 hours or 30 hours - neither is great if you ask me!

Anyway there's some more info here http://www.animalsaustralia.org/features/bobby-calf-public-consultation.php

Right now, ditching dairy, sharing this info (seriously, even my ultra smarty pants mum didn't realise this hidden cruelty before I told her!), and encouraging others to ditch dairy (yep mum's vegan now too!  clap ) is a huge step to reducing demand for milk and ...reducing the cruelty.

That link has emails to ministers who'll be making the decisions if you feel so inclined!

And HUGE congrats to everyone that's gone vegan to help these babies, and to Shanii for being a saving grace.

That's abhorrent... you only have to stand at the fence near a bunch of cows to notice the fact they eat all day!

Chickens are not fed for two or three days prior to slaughter as well, merely to cut down on the amount of potential contamination from fecal matter during the disembowelment process. Makes you sick.
