Australia Day for me is a day to celebrate all the wonderful aspects of this country.
Freedom, equality, the ability to walk down the street without being gunned down, etc.
It's a bit devastating that a lot of people have to focus on negative aspects (eg. Racism).
I feel that we should acknowledge the past, and learn from it.
But should the past be the focus of the day?
I guess that depends on the person.
I'm not really a patriotic person, so all I really do is remember how lucky I am to live here, and enjoy a day off work/school/other commitments.

I'm in a room where people donate books and all are welcome, it is open Mic night soon and anyone can say WHAT they feel like...
it was a calamity but nothing like the putridness coming from out the window... of people wearing flags on their skin
poetry is a little different than the inability to express one's self... let alone able to self observe one's own self experience impulses of fears and feelings that are not their own nor are sensicle
