My local animal welfare centre recently had a sausage sizzle to raise money for their centre and 'saving' animals... Are we eating animals to save animals now??

I know RSPCA do work for meat animals as well as the fluffies/domestic animals. Are other animal welfare centres under any obligation to do this or is their an authority that could 'have a word' with them?

My local RSPCA always has sausage sizzles to raise money for the shelter - its a little bit hypocritial to save one and eat another.

I agee that it's hypocritical. It just worries me that people look to them to set an example of what's cruel and what's not, and how are they going to know not to eat meat if the welfare centres say it's ok

Sadly it's what they have to do.

hehe humans are a bit silly aren't they. I think a LOT of the time welfare groups and organisations that are dedicated to helping save the world sometimes get lost in their own little raising awareness and getting money for the cause bubbles that they stop seeing the big picture. It's sad but it's always about the money even with a lot of not for profits.
You're right it's highly hypocritical. Hopefully by voicing our concerns over this they'll realise eventually and stop.

It would be awesome if a welfare group, particularly one as influential as the RSPCA, hosted a fully vegan BBQ to raise money! I wonder if there's any way to make that happen  confused

why? they can run heaps of diffrent fundraisers to raise money that dont envolve killing animals.

some ideas are : raffle, fun run, vegan BBQ ect

I could not support an animal welfare group that had a sausage sizzle as a fundraiser, unless it was a vegan sausage sizzle.
That's totally no appropriate. Surely they can think of other ways to raise funds. How about a fundraiser event like a gig, car boot sale, or a charity auction?
There are always other, more ethical options than a sausage sizzle.

This is so stupid! This happens because people dont make the connection between animals they love and animals they eat. I know loads of people who volunteer to look after injured wildlife but still eat meat at least twice a day. This is why we need to spread the word that the animals we eat are no different to the animals we care for and share our houses with. People just dont want to listen tho.
