If you haven't tried these, you haven't lived!

Okay, that's a little melodramatic, but seriously... these things are spectacular!! ecstatic

I tried posting pics on my page but they just won't go through, so if you want to see my finished product, hit my profile up and click on the link to my blog.

The super-simple recipe is as follows:

FOR FILLING
1 Box of Original Oreos
1/2 tub of Tofutti 'Better Than Cream Cheese'

FOR COATING/ROLLING
(Of course, you don't have to do all three, but I'm all about variety)
200g Dark Chocolate - melted (I used Lindt Dark Cooking Chocolate)
Crushed nuts (I used walnuts because that's all I had in the pantry, and they worked well)
Dessicated coconut

METHOD
If you have a food processor, toss the Oreos in and pulse the crap out of them, then added the cream cheese and blend until you have a relatively smooth paste.

If you don't have a food processor, toss the Oreos into a high-sided bowl and CRUSH the crap out of them with whatever you have handy, then add the cream cheese and mix with a spoon to form a smooth paste.

In either case, don't stress too much about lumps, because the Oreos will soften as the truffles set anyway.

Once that's done, simply roll teaspoon-ish globs of mixture into balls and either coat in melted chocolate and leave them as is, or coat in chocolate THEN roll in nuts, or... simply roll in dessicated coconut WITHOUT coating them in chocolate. Whichever way you do it, they'll taste superb.

Place the truffles on a non-stick surface after rolling/coating.

Following that, pop them into the freezer for an hour if you want a quick choc fix (then put them in the fridge), or pop them straight in the fridge for a few hours before indulging.

**This recipe was sourced (though I've adapted the measurements and timing a little) from user 'Veg-in-training' on Vegweb**

I think I may die. They look awesome. This isn't oreo related, (although you could chop up oreos and mix into it) but while we're sharing to die for food, I have an awesome ice-cream mix. 1 tub of So good Vanilla Bliss, 1 tin of soy condensed milk and 1 block of Lindt dark cooking chocolate, melt choc & condensed milk. Place ice-cream and choc mix into a mixer and mix and then pour back into tub and freeze. Probably a good idea to cut or smoosh the ice-cream into smaller pieces, otherwise when the beaters hit large chunks of ice-cream it goes everywhere. The best ice-cream ever.

Although not very alike, this recipe reminds me of dirt cake!
Dirt cake tastes so good, it was my favourite dessert before going vegan.
I'm going to try veganising it on the weekend.

PS: The photos on your blog look so yum. I'm going to try making them too happy

Both ideas sound scrumptious. I'll definitely give them a shot. ecstatic

Abbie, just be warned that those truffles are bloody moorish (sickeningly so). Mine went in about two seconds flat!

Google 'Oreo truffles' and check out some of the other pics people have posted. Some of them look downright amazing. happy

Ummmm.... doesn't Lindt Dark Cooking Chocolate have dairy in it?

Fair call, Ronnie, but I assure you it doesn't.

Here's the list of ingredients:

Cocoa mass, Sugar, Reduced Fat Cocoa Powder, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin), Flavouring (Natural Bourbon Vanilla Beans)

That's it, my friend.

It does state that it 'may' contain traces of milk, but where the 'may contains' are concerned, I'm not all that fazed. Not everyone is as loose with those things, but I'm in the minority on that one. Each to their own, but the way I see it, I'm less likely to ingest milk particles that way, as I would be if I sat next to someone who was drinking a milkshake.

Hope this clears it up for you. happy

Noice,  I was looking for the ingredients on the internode to check - so I'm glad you cleared that up for me.

On a different note - if anyone wants to make their own chocolate using 4 ingredients (cocoa powder, cocoa butter, sustainable (not from orangutan islands) organic coconut palm sugar & coconut cream) follow this link:

http://www.powersuperfoods.com.au/cacao-gold-powder.html

I bought my cocoa powder, cocoa butter & sust coconut palm sugar direct from these guys & they were really quick with delivery & super helpful with my questions.  Unfortunately I have yet to source a coconut cream in a UHT package here in Oz & sometimes I can't be bothered to make my own coconut cream so I bought organic coconut cream (in a tin  cry )

I'm whipping up a batch this week!!!!!  clap  cow

I've been making these for almost a year. They are the bomb! Best kept in the freezer as I found the fridge just makes them sweat.

I made these the other night. They were so good!
They were a little bit too rich to my liking, so next time I will just coat them in chocolate sprinkles instead of dark chocolate tongue

Btw Mckenzies Chocolate sprinkles don't contain gelatin thumb
