Annoying unsportive friends..

I'm sure we all have them, how do you deal with them?

One of my friends always makes jokes around other people but is always down to come eat vegan food with me. He actually understands veganism and it took me a while to figure that out. Some of my other friends don't get it at all.

I do find happiness in proving my friends wrong though so i sometimes do argue with them if they initiate it.

In my experience, these friends are always those that actually understand my choices better then those who say nothing.
I think it comes down to 2 things a) Deep down, they feel guilty that someone else has the strength to change their diet for something they believe in OR b) They feel the need to bring you down because they feel you regard yourself higher than them because of your morality.

Either way, the issue lays with them and not you - in almost every case (unless you're going around telling everyone else they suck because they eat meat tongue FYI I am like that with my close friends haha and they still don't give me crap.) The easier way is to shut them down by saying "Well, I'm sorry I believe in something..." "My diet is proven to save lives, and it matters to me, why does it matter so much what I put in my mouth" etc. and he can't really come back with any logical argument.

Long story short, some people are just a-holes for no real reason and letting their ridiculous comments upset you is something you have to try and get over - unfortunately, only because you'll get it a lot!! sad sad sad Hang in there, if it's really bothering you, bring it up to him!

Yup I hear u and it shits me too, not as much now as I'm a veteran veg. You have to be proud of your choice to be veg/vegan and stand up to anyone that judges your choice, some suggestions of things to say;
I'm really glad you asked why I dont eat animals, I would love to talk to you about it but I'd be here all day so how about I send u some info or lend you a book? If they say no I'm not interested, then say, cool so let's talk about your choice!! He he
Another one I use is, I can't stand the thought of eating dead food that has blood!
I can't support an industry that is cruel and morally wrong
I could go on and id love to hear other short responses that can put someone in their place when they're being ignorant and disrespectful. We all have or have had those friends who have to make stupid comments, or say oh I don't eat much meat either!
Most people wouldn't eat meat of they took a little trip to the abattoir hell hole, they would be traumatized unless they are a bit deranged to start with,
Anyway sorry I've kinda gone off the topic!

Agree with the previous post!

I also tell them that I personally don't give a toss what they shove in their faces, and categorically they should perhaps shut the f**k up about what I choose to eat, and my reasons why.
