I'm not religious and I hate how over commercialised it is particularly in relation to the dairy and fishing industries. It really makes me mad. However I loved it as a kid and it's just a bit of fun so I make sure to celebrate with compassion and cruelty-free foods. And to get the message across that it is easy to do so and you don't need to support cruel practices in order to celebrate. People see veganism as militant and extreme and I don't want to support that because really, it's just the opposite. We're the peaceful. They're the militant. I think the more vegans join in the more 'normal' veganism will become and then the more people will come to the light side. haha

I get what you mean about people thinking that veganism is this hard and strict thing. Some people in my class at school asked if I was a vegan now, and I said no (my parents won't let me) but I don't eat dairy, eggs, fish or pig products. They were so shocked that I wouldn't eat dairy and said, "So if I just offered you a piece of chocolate you wouldn't eat it? What's wrong with you?!" I just shrugged and told them that I still eat vegan chocolate and there's really no difference. The truth is, after I've stopped eating dairy I've felt much more at peace and more relaxed. I told them about rice milk chocolate and now all of them want to try it!

Sorry that this isn't that related to this thread, but I just felt the need to say it. It's to do with chocolate, I guess.  ashamed

as a Christian its actually annoying that 'Easter' has become some holiday where people pig out on chocolate.... doesnt make  sense... My parents always bought us bunnys and eggs though but now being vegan - it annoys me more coz of all the dairy choc being sold.

so basically no, im not really that into it.

I did buy hot cross buns on Good Friday though....thats the tradition. The bakers used to put the crosses on to represent the crucifiction...like anyone gives a shizz anymore though ;/
