So I was looking around for a vegan protein powder and the main ones around seem to be soy, rice or pea protein. I'd prefer to avoid the soy option as I think I get enough soy in my diet. I guess what I'm asking is pea vs rice protein? Is either considered "better"? :0

I don't know about which is "better" but I've heard good things about pea based proteins.

My personal trainer mate swears by pea protein, and he eats meat. Says it is much more natural and less processed than other "conventional" protein powders.

I've been on pea protein for a little while, so far so good. I doesn't blend as well some so I would suggest the use of a shaker.

Out of curiosity why do you need protein powder?
I don't think it's necessary at all unless you want to start working out and building muscle, or are having trouble getting enough protein in your diet from wholefoods (which really isn't hard at all!)

Protein is an essential macro nutrient needed by the body to repair and replace muscle tissue regardless if you are a body-builder or not. Some vegans do tend to have trouble getting enough protein in their diet  especially if they don't eat enough legumes, so a supplement is sometimes useful.

I currently use Sunwarrior, it's fermented rice protein and has a good amino acid profile. But I'm sure there isn't much difference.

I think I need it because I don't eat a lot of protein-rich foods. I'm allergic to nuts, so that rules those out as a source. I try to avoid over-processed mock meats and such so I don't get protein in that regard either. I don't eat a lot of legumes, either. And I'm planning on going to the gym and 'building muscle' happy
It may not even be a necessary venture but I figure it can't do any harm?
