My sis is only down to white meat (chicken, turkey, fish). She is coming to stay with me for 2wks and I told her there is no meat to be consumed in my house... and she's fine with that - to the point that she's bringing heaps of veg*n recipes she's found and wants to try out! I gave her Fry's schnitzels and burger patties last time I saw her (March last year) and she loved them, so my mission is to convert her more!

My Aunt who lives in Perth is nearly vegetarian... she still eats salmon :S Idk why. She was raising her two kids vegetarian, but then the oldest one, when she was like 3 or 4 went over to the neighbour's BBQ and ate a sausage, and now they can eat meat. It was annoying, my whole family had been saying that it's not right raising kids vegetarian, saying that parents should give them meat then let them choose whether or not to be vegetarian when they get older. But either way, you're still deciding what they're eating, so why is it wrong to choose for them to be vegetarian until they're old enough to choose for themselves?

I've had this argument before with someone. You raise your children up the way you eat, if your a vegetarian/vegan, that's how they will be raised. If you're catholic, they will have a catholic upbringing etc.

In the end you're depriving your child of something, and every parent just brings up their children the way they believe is right, once they're old enough they're going to make their own decisions regardless.

I was brought up a meat eating catholic, now I am neither. I don't blame or hate my mother for bringing me up that way, because she believed she was doing the right thing by me.

I have a pescetarian aunt, a vegetarian aunt (who might be pescetarian but I haven't seen her since I was younger so I'm not sure), a vegetarian cousin and two of my sisters have at somepoint been vegetarian. One of them I think wen't vegan for a while but 'm not completely sure. That same one mainly eats fish now, barely eats red meat and doesn't like white meat.

I don't really have any stories, I do remember when I was younger me, my dad and step-family were having dinner. My step-mum mentioned in a really worried/disgusted voice how at somepoint my sister not only wen't off meat but wasn't eating any gluten, milk or egg products. My reply to this was "wow really? that's unhealthy." I was about eight at the time though.
My dad is a very big fast-food and meat person, he goes to maccas like every day (often just for a drink or thickshake) because he can't cook so I find it sort of funny how he thinks that his way is the right way and that he's all healthy while all of his children have at somepoint been veg*n.

I have an older sister, we don't really speak much anymore and never see each other since she lives on the other side of the world. She was vegan for a few years when she was in her early 20s (mainly to lose weight), but a few years ago she started eating fish, eggs and dairy again (because she lost too much weight).

It makes me sad, because I really looked up to her when I was a kid.
