Hehe. Yes.

This forum needs a sarcasm font. wink

Anyway, you're welcome. Look, you'll find there are vegans who play the "more vegan than thou" card and give you a hard time but whatev. We are already doing more for the animals than most, and many vegans keep their old stuff because it's wasteful not to. But it is possible sometimes to give ourselves a hard time unnecessarily and overthink things. I honestly barely give it a second thought when I put on my leather shoes (I certainly wouldn't buy new ones, obviously) not because I don't care, but because guilt achieves nothing.

I apologise, it seems I misunderstood. I have a woollen cardigan and leather working boots that I still wear, but only because I bought them before I went vegan. I thought you were implying that you had no issues with wool and were happy to continue buying it! Sorry!

I pledged to be wool-free, and I fully intend to uphold this promise. However, I have heaps of leather shoes, boots and motorcycle gear which I bought a long time before going vegan, and I have absolutely no intention of throwing them in the bin. I already bought the stuff so I may as well get the full use out of it. Same applies to a very expensive woollen 'old man' hat my mum bought me for my birthday last year... it's made from hand-woven Harris tweed FFS - it'll last a very long time.

On the flip side, I have no gripe against buying woollen items from op-shops. I classify this as recycling, which places no demand on the industry to produce new items. I won't buy second-hand leather though - the idea of that gives me the creeps. I guess this is because it's not washable, and leather jackets and whatnot can get pretty sweaty. Ick.

When all of these things that I own need replacing, I'll do so with animal-friendly alternatives.

This is exactly why people tend to hate animal activists! becouse you jump straight down someones throat and literally bomb-barded them and offend them. If you had waited for NieKard to reply you would of seen that she hadent simply wanted to pledged against wool l becouse she still owns wool - Thats understandable

I no that i have jumped down people throats befor, but after reading the forum Amiee posted it really opened my eyes about  animal activists attitudes, Just like the forum that AllyCat started about the lady wearing fur, that was rude and uncalled for. I bet that lady just thought what a stupid little girl and that will not stop her from wearing fur, but proberly continue, this experiance proberly also changed peoples minds about animal activists ( in a bad way )

The lesson in all this is; settle down and just wait to hear what the person is saying befor you attack them - 95% of the time there is a valid reason behind what they are saying.

Rant over tongue

I have to disagree! I think when u post up a forum and that's all u say then expect the worst to come back because quite frankly I didn't respond as I was just like "why the heck would u write something like that that on here?" - I would have thought with genuine fair enough reasons like she does have that u would write why u had said that because it did come across rude so clearly like someone mentioned it's a lot to do with the fact it's like texting on here and things get misunderstood a lot and that's why sometimes we need to add detail.

As for the allycat thing, what so NONE of u have ever done or said anything in "the moment" and then later thought oh I wish I'd done/said this instead...???? Not to mention she IS only young and I'm nearly 30 and still learning. Rather than having a go at her, education would be more beneficial , wouldn't want to scare a smart young confident girl out of being herself. As then there are those like me that r too scare to say a word.

Each to their own but I like it when we are all nice to each other happy  and although NK u had an understandable reason please try to understand what the others replying must have thought when they read that... And then u also without explaining first just went nuts at them.  I personally would have said ohhhh wait I'm heaps sorry I didn't explain properly - the reason I said that was ......,

But I guess we are all different and have different opinions right..

Love to all xoxo

Just to clarify, the 'pledge to wear your own skin' covers fur, leather and wool. We do not have individual pledges for each item.
