I agree with you about the cruelty of skinning animals alive for fur, but the fact that you want to make eating meat illegal is sickening, you have every right as a person to not eat meat but it is not your place to forcefully try and stop people eating meat. People have always eaten meat and that's how it is going to stay, you don't have to eat it but forcibly trying to stop others to eat meat with laws is a shameful thing to do. My personal opion is that any belief is fine and there should be no penalty for having that belief. But when you forcibly try to convert others into that belief or use laws to force them to follow your belief, it is an unforgivable act that is a crime against mankind.

Here's an intersting article for you to read, 'humans were not meant to eat meat.'
http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/natural.html

Here is another article called 'How humans are not physically created to eat meat'
http://www.celestialhealing.net/physicalveg3.htm

And another:
http://vegsource.com/jo/qa/qaphys.htm

AND the best of all, Humans did NOT always eat meat:

Check your facts before you post. And as for personal opinions and beliefs, that's fine. If Christians and Muslims can preach their religion to non religious people, and Mormons are allowed to knock on my door and interrupt family dinners to 'spread their word' then why can't we? Freedom of speech. If you don't like it, don't listen.

Hi Bacon, welcome to Unleashed, and thanks for offering your point of view happy

I don't think you'd find many people on here who are trying to force anyone to do anything. I'd much rather provide people with the knowledge to make their own informed choices about how they choose to treat animals.

Like you and I, pretty much everyone cares about animals. As you rightly point out, the fur trade is a dreadfully cruel industry. Fortunately, most people know about the abuses in the fur trade, however there are a lot of other cruel things done to animals in other industries, that many people don't realise are going on.

Sadly, in our modern society, most of us are quite distanced from the production of the food we eat.. and as a result many people simply don't know how animals are treated. This means industries have gotten away with doing some things that I'm sure you would agree are pretty dreadful, such as locking mother pigs in crates where they can't turn around for most of their lives, cut parts off piglets without anaesthetic, etc; or even the way battery hens are confined. (eg. what's covered in this vid: http://www.unleashed.org.au/videos/?video=darren_cordeux_why_vegan)

Wouldn't you agree that it's important for people to make informed choices?.. to have all the facts so that they can ensure they are not financially supporting practices that they themselves would never dream of doing to animals.

That's what Unleashed is all about, giving young people the power to make informed choices. If you want to find out more about these issues, I'd definitely recommend you check out Earthlings (http://www.unleashed.org.au/features/earthlings/). I'd be really keen to hear what you think of it thumb

What I under stand is that a lot of people on this forum want to out law the eating of meat, that is forcibly trying to convey your practices onto me and others. Those various religions that come to our doors don't force us to have their beliefs, yeah there annoying but we can say no, if a law was made against meat than we couldn't just say no. And if a law like that was ever made the sive of the mob the Feds would have to deal with would be an unstoppable wave of anger and eventually triumph when the the law was taken down to prevent a war of the people vs the gov.

I'm interested to know where you read that the people on the forum want to make eating meat illegal, as I have never seen that. I, along with Jesse and I'm sure many others here, believe that raising awareness and informing people of what goes on the industries is the right path to take, rather than forcing others to do what we want. After all, that would have a better result; people would understand us and where we come from rather than just scoff at us.

The only laws i've heard people on this site pushing are laws against cuelty to animals, not the complete banning of eating meat. People are pushing sows to be held in pens rather than small cages, that hens be free range instead of kept in battery cages etc. Where are you reading this make meat illegal stuff?

So reply to that forum thread instead of creating your own that attacks us all in general.

look at one of my earlier posts and you'll see why I talked about the people who wanted meat eating banned. And I don't scoff at vegitarians, I don't know anyone who does so you don't need to feel like your an outcast happy I have a friend who's a vegitarian so I have nothing against vegetarians. Also I'm sorry I can't give you the link to the post about banning meat, I'm on my iPod right now so I can't paste a link. Just search meat should be illegal and I think you'll come up with something.

I don't think it should be illegal, i think people should be able to make their own choices in life. Personally though, i would really perfer it if no one ate meat.... But i wouldn't force someon else to live the same way i do.
